Job Description
The Program Coordinator for Fire Adapted Community (FAC) Programs oversees the agency's wildland fire mitigation initiatives, which include Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP), Community Wildfire Defense Grants (CWDG), Firewise programs, structure hardening efforts and land-use planning. This position provides strategic coordination and leadership in wildland fire mitigation planning, collaborating with agency staff, state partners and local jurisdictions. The role is also responsible for preparing and finalizing reports and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the programs under its management. While expertise in wildfire mitigation and community resilience is essential, it is equally critical that the coordinator understands wildfire response operations. This includes active participation in response efforts across various roles, such as post-fire assessment teams, prevention teams and public information efforts. ****Location to be determined.****

Texas A&M Forest Service provides statewide leadership and technical assistance to ensure trees, forests and related natural resources are sustained for the benefit of all. Duties & Responsibilities:
The Program Coordinator for Fire Adapted Community (FAC) programs has a variety of duties and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Oversee CWPP, CWDG, Firewise, structure hardening and land-use programs, ensuring efficient coordination and implementation.
-Promote the benefits of CWPP, CWDG, Firewise, and structure hardening to stakeholders. Manager community engagement and renewals.
-Work with local government plan holders on CWPP development. Align and track progress of local developers. Liaise with agency departments to ensure program quality and timely completion.
-Lead outreach, promotion and management of CWDG grants. Track project progress and write reports.
-Assess CWPP methods and mitigation tools, providing recommendations for improvement to the Department Head.
-Provide expert guideance, training and support on wildland fire mitigation and land use planning to state partners, councils of government and local governments.
-Track program outcomes, key metrics and provide data-driven recommendations for future enhancements.
-Manage and mentor staff to ensure efficient program implementation, fostering a results-oriented and collaborative work environment.
-Complete all tasks in accordance with relevant laws, rules and guidelines.

This position is guaranteed a minimum of 40-hour work week and full benefits after 60 days.
Qualifications:
-A bachelor's degree with preferred emphasis in Natural Resource Management, Emergency/Fire Management, Fire Ecology, Range Science, Agricultural Leadership, Public Administration or a closely related field is required.
-A minimum of four (4) years' experience working full-time with at least two (2) years within the public service or emergency response realm is required. Additionally, one (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred. Experience working for or with a wildland fire agency is also preferred.
-Experience facilitating communications and developing and maintaining relationships with local government cooperators, various stakeholders and the general public is required.
-A valid Texas Driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment is required.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required for this position.
-An ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills and can work independently and be self-directed. This position requires the ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities in addition to working closely with others at times.
Additional Information:
-Employees responding to wildfire incidents are required to meet a moderate physical fitness standard by passing the Work Capacity Test each year. This involves walking two (2) miles, wearing a 25lb pack in 30 minutes or less.
-Travel is required for emergency response, training and program delivery. Travel away from the home unit, sometimes exceeding 14 days, may be necessary. There is also a possibility of working holidays while on emergency response.
-Within 90 days of hire, an employee must establish a primary residence within 30 minutes travel time of the office location.
-This position is not eligible for reimbursement of moving expenses.
