These programs are designed to enhance the wellness, leadership development, and participant connection to the campus community through structured sports, events, general recreation activities, and youth programs. This position reports to the Program Director of Sports and Youth Programs with shared oversight of 20-25 student employees, 15-20 club sport teams with over 300 participants, over 40 intramural leagues and events with over 3,000 participants annually, offer a variety of youth programs (i.e., camps, kid's night out, and birthday parties), and events in partnership with other units that support student retention and success. This position assists the leadership in the development, implementation, and assessment of the Sports and Youth Programs short- and long-term objectives including strategic planning, budget development and management, policy and procedures, facility coordination, equipment lifecycle planning, risk management, and program performance standards/evaluations. The successful candidate will promote and cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity, engage in evidence-based decision-making, and promote student development and learning while supporting the mission and values of the department. Typical work schedule is 8am-5pm Monday through Friday with required work during evening and weekends to engage and support program staff and participants. No vacation permitted the week prior to and first week of each fall and spring semester. **Essential Functions** **Leadership and Program Management** + Assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive high-quality sports and youth recreation program that meets and balances the needs of the campus community and provides a positive experience focused on healthy behaviors and individual/team well-being through sport recreation activity programs. + In coordination with colleagues, develops and schedules annual/semester intramural sports, club sport team, and youth program schedules including facilities, equipment, and marketing. + Administers and maintains recreational management software that supports intramural sports league and events, club sports registration and management of membership, activity, equipment, coach information, reports/evaluations, marketing/promotion requests, budget/sponsorship requests, and awards, and youth programs, activity, and participant management, as well as staff scheduling. + Collaborates in sports and youth programming throughout campus including partnership efforts with Wellness, Student Life, MOSAIC, Residence Life, Dean of Students, Veteran and Military Affairs, Sports Management, Health Sciences, Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center, Family Development Center, and Intercollegiate Athletics. **Intramural Sports** + Designs, implements, coordinates, and evaluates an Intramural Sports Program, including a diverse offering of individual/dual and team sport activities that meet participant needs, skill levels, and safety/risk management guidelines. + Provides coordination and oversight of intramural leagues and events, including activity implementation, officials training, and participant conduct. + Provides coordination, implementation, and evaluation of Faculty/Staff sport leagues and events. + Coordinates the organization of the intramural registration process and manager's meetings. + Maintain inventory of intramural sports equipment and supplies. **Club Sports** + Coordinates the administration and advising of the Club Sport Program that includes a diverse offering of student club sport teams. Works in partnership with student leaders and clubs to successfully implement club sport activities while adhering to university, department, and national governing body policies, procedures, and safety/risk management regulations. + Reviews, reports, and approves club sport financial accounts, including budget development, purchase requests, payments, sponsorships, fundraising, donations, and in-kind gifts. + Reviews and submits club sport contracts, agreements, and permits for approval through the University Procurement Service Center and Human Resources. + Coordinates, advises, and approves club sport activity including practices, games, tournaments, events, and travel. + Reviews and approves club sport marketing/promotion in conjunction with department and university marketing/branding guidelines. + Administrates and maintains online club sport database registration and management of membership, activity, equipment, coach information, reports/evaluations, marketing/promotion requests, budget/sponsorship requests, and awards. **Youth Programs** + Assists in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of RecKids activities and services including youth camps, birthday parties, and kid's night out. + Provide direct supervision over the daily operation of youth camp programs. + Assist in the supervision of daily operations of youth camp programs, birthday parties and kids night and day out. + Assist in the completion and compliance of university minors on campus policies and reporting. **Personnel Management and Student Development:** + Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, mentors, schedules, assigns responsibilities, and evaluates student employees including sports and youth program assistants, supervisors, and officials. + Completes annual evaluations and presents coaching and development opportunities throughout the evaluation period to direct reports. + Coordinates, implements, and evaluates student employee outcome-based trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities. + Acts in accordance with department and university student employment and human resources guidelines, policies, and procedures. **Fiscal and Resource Management:** + Assists in the development, implementation, management, reporting, and evaluation of program budget including but not limited to payroll and operations. + Manages and maintains budget in accordance with department, division, and university guidelines and policies to ensure prudent stewardship of resources. + Ensures that business functions employ best management practices and are consistent with department and university standards. + Recommends operating and capital reserves projects/purchases by providing research and assessment relevant to area needs and product availability. **Risk Management:** + Maintains emergency policies and procedures for sports and youth programs. + Assists in maintaining current records of sports and youth programs and first aid safety equipment as it relates to mandated safety replacements. + When emergency situations arise, serve as a first responder, utilize necessary communication, and provide care in accordance with certification perimeters. + Mitigate any program and staff conflict situations in accordance with department policies and procedures to ensure fair and equitable solutions. + Recommends policies and procedures that protect the health and safety of our participants. + Collaborates with department staff and external partners on decisions related to healthy and safe playing conditions at Campus Recreation facilities. + Assists with the review and management of incident and accident/injury reports. + Collaborates with the facilities operations staff in coordinating operational and break hours, program maintenance needs and facility and program reservations and access. **Administrative Duties:** + Responsible for monitoring, compiling, organizing, and analyzing sports and youth program data collection and reporting, including but not limited to, learning outcomes, assessment plans, and annual reports. + Supports the identification, development, application, and evaluation of guidelines, policies, and procedures related to club sports, intramural sports, and youth program operations in accordance with industry standards and department and university guidelines. + Regularly reviews and updates club sports, intramural sports, and youth program handbooks and manuals. + Serves on assigned departmental and University committees to support the mission, vision, and core values of Campus Recreation. + Attends professional development conferences, workshops, seminars, and advocates for professional development throughout the department to stay abreast of current trends and industry standards. + Participates in the development of ideas and suggestions for program, facility, and service improvements. + Position is required to attend Campus Recreation classes and/or programs and use various facilities and equipment periodically to ensure that they meet or exceed department and industry standards and risk management guidelines. +
