DescriptionThe Program Coordinator duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.Prepares operational and statistical reports.Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.Performs related responsibilities as required.ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
The Program Coordinator will support environmental health and community engagement activities in Brunswick, GA, as part of a grant-funded project that aims to reduce exposure to hazardous substances through educational programs and public health messaging. Specific projects that the Program Coordinator will support include the development of curriculum related to local environmental issues, the holding of educational programming, and the development of educational materials related to safe seafood consumption. Specific tasks performed by the Program Coordinator will include providing logistical and technical assistance to the leadership team for scientific activities and associated administrative needs. Scientific tasks may include reviewing documents, coordinating field data collection and entering and analyzing data from focus groups and questionnaires. Administrative tasks are likely to include coordinating meetings and events, making equipment purchases and travel arrangements, printing, processing invoices and managing financial communications with the funder. The coordinator will interact regularly with community partners where good communication and cultural competency skills are critical. The work will entail occasional attendance at evening and weekend events.
Detail oriented with ability to work independentlyBackground in environmental science, public health or education.Experience working with communities and small community groupsExperience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysisExperience with basic financial reporting (e.g., invoicing, writing annual reports)Ability to clearly communicate scientific concepts verbally, visually, and in writingAbility to communicate and navigate relationships with a variety of partners, from community residents, to academic faculty and state and federal agency representativesSpanish language skills preferred but not requiredPreference will be given to residents of Glynn County, but residents of other locations will be consideredMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice.
