WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

CHI is looking for a full-time Program Director. As Director, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of emergency shelters and homeless services in Long Island. You will ensure that housing and social services are provided effectively in accordance with guidelines established by CHI and all funding sources. You will ensure that all program participants are provided with services necessary to promote personal and economic independence and that participants have the skills required to obtain, maintain, and retain permanent housing. You will ensure the residents in temporary housing programs are housed in well maintained units. You will develop resources and partnerships to promote the health and welfare of program participants. Compliance will be upheld with all applicable federal, state, local, and funder rules and regulations.

Supervise Program Managers, ensuring that all programs are providing quality services and are compliant with program requirements. Provide regular supervision and growth opportunities to direct reports and supporting staff. Conduct 1 to 1 meetings with members of your team and update the performance goals, accomplishments, notes, and feedback in Paycom on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly). Promote sound social work practices through staff training and supervision including case consultations, case file reviews, and employee performance appraisals. Interaction with federal, state and local agencies to ensure compliance with governmental and agency standards. Responsible for the timely and correct submission of all reports in the manner required by funding agencies and/or CHI; SOAR, HUD APR’s, OTDA, internal KPIs, Renewal Applications, new applications, housing logs, unit inspection sheets, authorization sheets, census reports, etc. Prevent loss of income to CHI as a result of vacancy loss, lost rental payments, damages or improper, inadequate or unnecessarily maintenance costs and/or staff timekeeping. Investigate and resolve client complaints. Coordinate intake, admission, and discharge process to ensure compliance and uniformity. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring repairs and maintenance to properties using timely and cost-effective processes and procedures while maintaining Housing Quality Standards of safe, decent, and sanitary units for residents. Monitor the delivery of services to residents of CHI programs. Provide support in interviewing and make recommendations for hiring of prospective staff. Ensure that all government and agency guidelines are understood and strictly enforced regarding Equal Opportunity Employment, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Housing Opportunity, mandated reporting of suspected child abuse or maltreatment, non-threatening workplace, sexual harassment, and all other government or agency guidelines and reporting policies. Attend staff meetings, seminars and in-service training as assigned. Act as a professional agency representative and spokesperson in all situations with clients and other agencies. Provide coverage and support to sites as needed.

Be able to accept flexible work schedule including being on call 24/7 to meet the needs of the agency and its clients.

WHAT DO I NEED?

Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or related field required.

Experience: Three + years’ experience managing diverse portfolio of social service programs preferred.

Certificates or Licenses: LMSW preferred. Valid driver’s license required.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Computer Skills: Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, Foothold AWARDS required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls.

Other Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Must be even-tempered, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines.

Salary: $90,000 annually Exempt Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. 24/7 on call responsibilities
