Job Posting Summary
Mercy University seeks qualified candidates to apply for the Program Director of Catalyst. The Catalyst Program Director is a 12-month faculty/administrative position based at Mercy’s Bronx campus, located at 1200 Waters Place in the Pelham Bay neighborhood. The Program Director will be appointed as a faculty member with expectations of instruction. Discipline open. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Catalyst program is an innovative initiative designed to empower and give momentum to students’ college career through carefully tailored and monitored academic support, financial support, career education, and mentoring. The program aims to set students up for maximum success during their time at Mercy and beyond. The Catalyst Program Director will be responsible for the oversight and growth of this essential Mercy program and shape the trajectory for the program’s success.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
+ Serve as an academic support liaison to work closely with multiple programs and departments across the University
+ Collaborate with Enrollment Management and the Office of Student Life to support Catalyst students by ensuring their full immersion into the university experience
+ Engage with diverse students and incorporate inclusive pedagogical practices to ensure that all students succeed
Leadership
+ Provide leadership and oversees all aspects of the Catalyst Program, working closely with the Office of the Provost and other areas of the University to promote and grow the Catalyst program
+ Promote faculty engagement with the Catalyst Program and recognize their contributions
Management
+ Collaborate with faculty, Student Affairs, and Enrollment Management to implement and coordinate Catalyst program policies and processes
+ Work with other key offices across Mercy University, including Registrar and Financial Aid
+ Meet regularly with the Office of the Provost to facilitate program improvements and implementation activities
+ Develop an innovative and accessible web presence for the Catalyst program
Curriculum and Programming
+ Coordinate, track, and analyze Catalyst program’s course offerings and scheduling, and (working with Student Affairs) make recommendations to the Registrar and Deans
+ Communicate with the respective Mercy Schools to ensure adequate opportunities for student success
+ Collaborate with Department Chairs and Program Directors (Academic Unit Heads) and student advisement (PACT) to provide ongoing progress monitoring and academic support to catalyst students
+ Work with the Center for Teaching and Learning to encourage high-quality delivery of curriculum and with the Center for Academic Excellence and Innovation to ensure peer mentors and tutors have a clear understanding of the Catalyst program and its outcomes
+ Arrange, manage, and publicize programming such as guest speaker conferences, and community service opportunities
+ Provide support for undergraduate educational achievement by working with the Library to identify opportunities for open educational resources and seek appropriate funding opportunities
Student Experience
+ Foster a culture of learning and excellence within the Catalyst program ensuring its students have an academically and socially rewarding experience the promotes achievement, persistence, and success
+ Act as a resource for Schools and assist Department Chairs and Program Directors (Academic Unit Heads) in sponsoring and communicating co-curricular and career-oriented activities to engage Catalyst students
+ Work in partnership with Student Life to communicate and promote robust extracurricular programming for Catalyst students
Communication and Reporting
+ Maintain open communication, collegiality, and teamwork within the program and with its partner stakeholders internal and external to the University
+ Prepare and update Catalyst program requirement information for university publications, including catalog listings and website information, ensuring alignment with university procedures and goals
Program Assessment and Review
+ Work with the Director of Educational Assessment to ensure:
+ Effective assessment of the Catalyst program and tracking of learning outcomes within constituent courses
+ Timely collection, reporting, and analysis of assessment data
Additional Responsibilities
+ Teach in courses of candidate’s specified discipline
+ Actively participate in university, advisory, governance, and program/instruction committees, and campus activities
+ Participate in professional development training to remain current in the field
+ Perform other duties as assigned

+ Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative educational community for students, work across university offices and academic departments, and mentor students for successful academic achievement
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Experience with data management and evaluation
+ Experience with program management
+ Strong project management skills and experience
+ Experience with student-driven and other asset-based educational strategies

Preferred Skills & Experience
+ Strong understanding of higher education General Education requirements
+ Prior experience working with cohorted educational programs in college or university context
+ Experience with student information system and enterprise resource planning platform (e.g., Banner). Education Requirements

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:
Deferred Compensation Plan
All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.
Defined Contribution Plan
Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.
If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
