The new MA Program in General Psychology within the School of Health Sciences of Touro University invites applications for the Program Director & Professor of Psychology position. This position involves a faculty appointment in the Department of Doctoral Studies in Clinical Psychology within the Touro University’s School of Health Sciences (rank open). The position is to be effective July 1, 2025.

 

The Program Director and Professor of Psychology, in the MA program in general psychology within the School of Health Sciences is responsible for teaching; advising; mentorship; scholarship; and department, school, and university service. This role will supervise one or more faculty. The MA Program in General Psychology is a strong psychological science-based program intended to prepare students for future graduate work in psychology, medicine, law, etc., and/or enhance the knowledge and skill of those individuals seeking career advancement. The University places a high priority on teaching excellence and research success with an expectation that the candidate will also be active in their professional field.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Teach 4 courses per academic year. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. Engage in independent research/scholarly activity. Advise and mentor students. Participation in faculty meetings, provide service to the program, the School of Health Sciences, and the Touro University community.Program administration and management, including but not limited to:Student recruitment Curriculum development and oversightManagement of faculty and staff Budget preparation and oversight Qualifications

Education/ Experience

PhD or PsyD degree in Psychology requiredMinimum 5 years of experience full time teachingHistory of strong and consistent peer reviewed publications appropriate for rank (preference is for a research line consistent with clinical health and human performance or cognitive neuroscience),Experience in program development and/or administration

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

Exceptional analytical, problem solving skills, collaboration and matrix management skills.Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with student's, faculty, and colleagues.Competence and/or experience in technology as an educational tool (e.g. CANVAS).Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal).A high degree of interpersonal competency: professionalism, diplomacy, judgement, and discretion.A commitment to work in multicultural and urban education settings. Knowledge of higher education processes.Effectively manage and organize daily tasks independently and with a team while balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.Ability to solve complex problems and meet deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
