Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Director, Radiologic Technology Program is responsible for the administration of the Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology program at Southside College of Health Sciences. They will implement the curriculum with ongoing evaluation to ensure quality; recruiting, hiring, leading, and evaluating faculty and staff; compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards; overseeing program budget; and working collaboratively with leadership of the College and Richmond Higher Education Institutions.

Essential Job Functions

Coordinates the development, implementation, and revision of the program’s curriculum through a collaborative process that includes faculty and student input.

Directs the planning, development, and implementation of the program effectiveness plan.

Oversee development and adherence to program policies that are in alignment with best practices and accreditation and/or regulatory standards.

Recruits, hires, leads, mentors, and evaluates faculty and staff to ensure an effective team that delivers excellent instruction.

Ensures effectiveness of the program admissions process. Monitors progression, retention, graduation, certification pass rates, and job placement data to promote student satisfaction and retention. Ensures accurate representation of program to the community.

Coordinates and leads the program Advisory Board.

Leads program accreditation efforts to ensure full compliance with established standards. Participates in institutional accreditation projects.

Makes annual budget recommendations via the budget process to ensure necessary program resources. Effectively manages assigned budget.

Obtains, maintains, and reviews clinical affiliation agreements.

Collaborates with the Campus Director and other program directors to ensure effective operations of the College.

Maintains current knowledge of radiologic technology, curriculum development and evaluation, teaching and/or learning practices, and leadership.

Serves on college, Richmond Higher Education Institutions, and/or health system committees as assigned. Collaborates and builds relationships within the College, Richmond Higher Education Institutions, health system, and community

Licensing/Certification

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required)

Education

Degree or Certificate from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program (required)

Master's degree in health science or related field (required)

Post-graduate degree (Ph.D) in health care related field or education (preferred)

Work Experience

3 years' experience as a registered radiologic technologist (required)

2 years' documented experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited radiography program (required)

Experience with JRCERT accreditation process (required)
