Program Director - Shelter Cove/Hope Housing

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Program Director will provide supervision, coordination, and management of the Shelter Cove and Hope Housing programs. The Program Director works to coordinate the program with Monterey County Behavioral Health and works cooperatively with the county psychiatrists and Interim and county coordinators. The housing programs are responsible for providing supported housing for adults with psychiatric disabilities.

COMPENSATION

$87,235 - $141,440 annually. Exempt; not eligible for overtime. Compensation based on education and experience.

 

REPORTS TO

Division Director of Program Services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelors in a related field and four years’ experience in providing mental health services. Must have knowledge of principles of working with adults with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. Two years of supervisory experience required. Excellent English oral and written communication skills, strong clinical skills, and ability to manage a culturally diverse team. Demonstrates leadership and ability to network with other agencies. Ability to manage program budget. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to obtain, collect and track data required for various funding sources and to manage grants and contract sources. Knowledge of outcome measurements associated with services for people with mental illness. Skills in management of electronic medical records.

 

Preferred: Masters degree in a related field with one of the following licenses: Board of Behavioral Sciences License or Associate Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapy or Professional Clinical Counselor status preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and knowledge of community resources strongly preferred.

 

Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the development and implementation of the housing programs including transitional supported housing, apartments/group housing.Recruitment, hiring, supervision, scheduling, evaluations, and discipline of program staff, including but not limited to Counselors, Case Coordinators and Administrative staff. Provide regular training for staff, including but not limited to harm reduction, crisis prevention, motivational interviewing, substance use disorders and intervention, housing retention, and social rehabilitation model. Conduct regular staff meetings. Program planning and evaluation, including development of program procedures, materials, forms. Implementation of a work plan to ensure achievement of program objectives and goals, including establishing, monitoring, and revision, as needed of program processes and procedures. Liaison and coordination with County Behavioral Health, Adult System of Care and other private and public social services including local homeless organizations, mental health agencies and other Interim programs. Maintenance of accurate records, using both computerized and manual methods. Examples include program statistics, client records, (including Medi-Cal documentation), HMIS, medical records, financial records, outcome measures. Provide direct services for clients including outreach, client intake, assessment, treatment planning and crisis intervention. Provide 24/7 on call services for agency, program staff. Arrange for client’s medical and mental health needs, i.e. link with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, coordinators, and other programs and services based on clients’ needs. Provide support for case management services and Medi-Cal treatment planning and record keeping.Collaborate with Interim’s Housing Department, ensure overall property maintenance and repair including furnishing housing units.Management and monitoring of program budget. Participation in agency committees, meetings, and activities. Conduct effective public relations activities as assigned including but not limited to networking, attending meetings, providing program presentations. Supervise other programs as assigned and/or on a needed basis Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to: operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Capable of the following extended activities: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Capable of the following intermittent activities: lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
