The Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology is currently recruiting a Program Manager I for the Chen-Huang Center for EGFR Mutant Lung Cancer, dedicated to advancing the care and research of EGFR mutant lung cancer through the seamless integration of preclinical, translational, and clinical research. The Program Manager will assist with the development and growth of the Chen-Huang Center. The Program Manager must be self-directed with exceptional communication, task management, and problem-solving skills.

This position’s work location is hybrid with two or three days per week remote. The selected candidate may only work remote days from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).
Responsibilities As directed, meet/make contact with patients with EGFR-mutant lung cancer, including all required follow ups (e.g. follow up email and/or follow-up phone call, etc.), at the main campus and satellite sites, and document all interactions in the program database. Related tasks may include: Meeting patients in person or connecting via phone, depending on clinic location, providing, and reviewing program materials and services with themWork across disciplines to obtain referrals for services which might improve patients’ quality of life.Addressing calls and emails to the EGFR center telephone line and central EGFR center email addressLeading development of educational materials pertaining to center in collaboration with EGFR center committee and pertinent partiesAssisting with writing and editing materials for patients and providers and facilitating the distribution of materials (e.g. clinical trial information, patient education pamphlets, newsletter, PowerPoint Presentations etc.)Managing and helping to plan the education opportunities and outreach to patients such as patient-centered webinars, lectureships, social media channels, support groups, newsletters, an annual EGFR patient forum, and other programsBe the primary point person to oversee and update the Chen-Huang Center databases, website content, and external communications. Identify QA issues. Work with the disease center leadership and center NP/PA to lead specific areas of the program, e.g. education and translational research. Regularly interface with clinical, clinical trials and translational research teams to obtain latest information on therapeutic trials or correlative research that would be available to EGFR-mutant lung cancer patients. Support the translational research efforts of Chen-Huang Center including the collection of biospecimens from patients, retrieval of archival tissue, clinical and research data entry and analysis, and questionnaire data. Facilitate research projects focused on understanding the treatment and response of EGFR mutant lung cancer, in coordination with clinical trials and translational research teams. As needed, assist with the ongoing evaluation of main/off campus services and program expansion, which may include tracking and assessing numbers served, initiating and following up on surveys as needed, assessing scope of the program in parallel with other DFCI-wide and department-specific centers, etc.Maintain familiarity and understanding of lung cancer histologies, mutations, treatments, and new findings related to EGFR lung cancer.Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the various tasks and responsibilities of the position.Collaborate with Office of Philanthropy to highlight accomplishments of Center Manage budget for Center, in collaboration with Administrative DirectorAssist with preparation for clinical rounds; distribute report and send updated notes to pertinent parties Collaborate with Pharmacy Resource Specialists and pharmaceutical company to determine patients’ financial assistance eligibility for medications Arrange monthly virtual team meeting and in-person weekly meetings Collaborate with Access Management Team to follow up on patient’s insurance statuses Arrange conferences and meetings as needed Qualifications BA/BS required. Advanced degree in public health or administration a plus. Must have at least 2 years prior health education, clinical research, or project management experience, clinical patient experience and data management experience. Must have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate with patients and staff effectively. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently required. Position requires ability to use computers frequently and to use multiple programs including Microsoft Office and Partners hospital systems. Previous experience with Access and other research administration software programs is preferred. No direct supervision but mentoring and training of junior staff is required.
