Description
Amazon’s Transportation Operations team is seeking a Program Manager to assist in the management of daily freight movements flowing into and out of our North American fulfillment centers and our associated fulfillment network.
This role is responsible for pulling and analyzing data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize our processes and eliminate the root cause of defects within the current systems.
Key job responsibilities
- Continual, tactical communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers)
- Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
- Develop performance metrics to assist with driving business results.
- Lead initiatives to re-engineer business processes and identify and eliminate root causes of defects in order to drive efficiency in Amazon’s transportation operations.
- Scope out business and functional requirements for the Amazon tech teams who create and enhance the software systems and tools we use
- Understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data.
- Systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on the resolutions to ensure they are delivered.
- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed.
- Communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to create a narrative outlining your weekly findings and the variances to goals, and present these finding in a review forum.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders up to the L8 level
- Ability to create 1-6 page documents to clearly explain issues and solutions
- Ability to examine processes and data to find defects and solutions
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
