Program Manager, Strategic Operations, Store Presentation Foundations
Shopping Presentation Foundations’ mission is to accelerate the rate Store builders can deliver shopper-facing features while decreasing the maintenance and operational costs of those applications. We own the mobile shopping app and have a direct influence on the customer experience. The SPF Strategic Operations Manager (SOM) is responsible for ensuring the SPF business runs efficiently as well as owning relationships with third party partners.

The SOM is expected to work across a suite of products and technical leaders to drive strategic product communication to stakeholders; develop and implement training and outreach to customers to drive adoption; work with engineering teams to drive product roadmaps, make trade off decisions, and balance business needs versus technical constraints; and effectively incorporate customer priorities and timelines into product roadmaps. They will oversee internal processes for operational excellence (metrics, WBRs, etc.) to ensure business heath in order to accelerate the teams’ ability to effectively report and communicate to customers.


Key job responsibilities
You oversee and contribute to programs such as:

Third Party Partner Relations: The SPF Strategic Operations Managers maintains relationships with third party companies (E.g., Apple, Google) whose technologies and guidelines are mutually beneficial. the SOM ensures Amazon benefits from forthcoming technology being developed by third party and identifies opportunities to collaborate. The SOM liaises with external tech and product teams to identify new APIs and features while developing a scalable process to identify and engage relevant internal teams across Amazon for testing and feedback. As the experimentation roadmap grows, this may also include the development of products that allow this approach to scale across Amazon and other third party. Additionally, the SOM oversees marketing opportunities with third party partners and works across the company to identify apps that would benefit from opportunities.

Business Operations: The SOM creates, iterates, and implements processes that contribute to the efficient running of SPF as a business. The role works across business partners such as HR, Finance, and Legal to centralize processes where necessary and establish a rhythm of business that works for all teams involved. This includes tracking and reporting goals, financial and headcount reporting, inventory tracking, and operational planning and reporting mechanisms. The SOM works at a high level to ensure the organization’s processes ladder up well to the wider org’s timelines and processes while also diving deep at a team level to influence behavior change that drive inputs. This role is exceptional at looking around corners to ensure the team is operating ahead of schedule rather than reacting to required deliverables.

Conferences and Events: The SOM is responsible for overseeing all events and conferences that SPF drives. Namely the annual AppDevCon which invites all app developers and related third party companies to share and learn. The SOM drives a cross functional working group to deliver the final event. The role plays a support role in planning the content and driving intended output of organizational events and meetings as well. This requires a close collaboration with EAs and Directors.

Measuring Success: This role is responsible for identifying and establishing metrics that capture the impact and value of SPF. The SOM works with Finance and BIE teams to build dashboards, P0s, and other tools that effectively communicate value. This role is responsible for developing communication channels and reporting mechanisms to key customers that allow them to understand the work SPF is driving and the direct impact to their team. They also establish reporting mechanisms that ensure SPF leadership can audit effectively across the organization and make informed business decisions.

Talent Management: The SOM works closely with SPF leadership and HR to drive 2x/year talent reviews and off cycle reviews of talent as needed. Due to the cross functional nature of this role, they offer insight into organizational pain points and support strategy setting for location planning and more.

Ad hoc: The SOM must operate as a jack of all trades and be ready to solve problems across a diverse space as needed. They work closely with the SPF leadership team to identify pain points and quickly drive to resolution. The SOM must operate autonomously and be comfortable delving into a variety of areas.
