This grant-funded, full-time role serves as a point of contact for The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), employers, and regional partners and is responsible for work to expand experiential learning opportunities in the SWVA region in conjunction with the mission of the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (VTOP) for 13 counties in the Southwest Virginia (SWVA) region.
Duties of position:
REGIONAL
Work with Director of Career Discovery and Planning to promote VTOP program and initiatives with employers (for profit and not-for-profit), Chambers of Commerce, higher education institutions, and local SHRM chapters, in person and virtual.Provide instruction on engagement through employer modules.Facilitate relationships with staffing contractor.Educate employers on creating ‘net new’ experiences, eligibility for matching funds, and the benefits of experiential learning.Supervise VTOP intern team (2 students) and oversee project work.Responsible for all facets of professional presentations and convenings for large and small audiences.Coordinate efforts and maintain regular communication with regional higher education partners.Demonstrate an understanding of internship recruitment and hiring practices.Meet VTOP goals for hosted events, employer referrals, professional development, and stakeholder meetings.UVA WISE
Engage with team members within Strategic Engagement and Government Relations.Engage with the Experiential Learning Hub at UVA Wise.Demonstrate an understanding of higher education’s structure and governance.OFFICE / MARKETING / SPECIAL EVENTS
Maintain tracker for activities, connections, and outcomes.Adhere to budget protocols; maintain accurate records and reconcile monthly.Assist in data collection and assessment processes; compile annual report.Events/meetings: reserve facilities, set up technology, order food, and send invitations.Create social media content for events and initiatives, as well as marketing collateral.Attending VTOP meetings, report updates and changes to stakeholders.Maintain security and confidentiality according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) Professional Standards.Qualifications:
Proficiency with Microsoft, Apple, and Google applications.Proficiency with social media (Instagram, LinkedIn) and web content.Skilled in clerical duties; adept in organizing and maintaining accurate information.Public speaking; able to create presentations for employers and partners.Skilled in handling multiple projects and adhering to deadlines.Must be professional, customer-service oriented, and willing to learnTravel within the region is required. Flexibility in the worksite is offered. This position requires one year of professional experience in marketing, employer relations, human resources, or related field. Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
