Program Manager

About The Role

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our Program Management team. Program Managers enable teams to work quickly and effectively to solve tough challenges. You will work on project teams with product managers, operational representatives, biologists, computational biologists, chemists, engineers and software engineers to develop truly new and innovative products. Our products have allowed researchers to study biology at unprecedented resolution and scale, yielding insights in diverse fields such as cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, and developmental biology.

As a 10x program manager, you will be on high-energy, cross-functional teams that are developing important new products including assays, instruments, consumables and software. You will be the person who brings to the teams a strong background in both R&D project management and development of genetic analysis systems from concept through successful commercialization. You will partner closely with the technical and commercial leads to make sure that the priorities, risks, resources, and schedule are established, managed, and adjusted when necessary. You will use your solid technical background and your prioritization skills to guide team conversations about the scope of the work being done and potential paths. Your strong communication skills will help keep everyone on the same page and make sure everyone is heard. Of course, as a program manager by nature, your excellent organizational skills will assure that nothing falls through the cracks.

You will also be the project team member responsible for knowing the 10x product development process by heart, and making sure the process works for the team. As part of the program management group, you have a home-base of fun colleagues that you can learn from and also bring new ideas to. You will sync with them on issues and tips in meetings and through impromptu messaging. Each problem is new, but the themes are eternal, so we have a lot of momentum for doing things well.

This position includes a percentage of time, ~25%, to support the R&D Operations lead with activities that include but are not limited to strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, hiring, board communication, new hire onboarding, training, departmental communication, and collaboration management.

What You Will Be Doing

Serve as project manager on 10x product-development teams to develop project plans which include resource needs, scope, budget and quality targets Ensure successful execution of program plans and track, manage and communicate progress to team and stakeholders Consult with stakeholders to ensure program goals are in alignment with business objectives In partnership with core team members you will define and focus on key goals and technical risks Identify and resolve or escalate program issues, facilitate tradeoff decisions, and remove obstacles Identify, monitor and resolve issues with interconnected deadlines, priorities, and resourcing With the other program managers, refine 10X Program Management and product development best practice  Assess and improve processes for project workflow and communication Note this is not an IT or software project management position

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

Bachelor’s degree or higher in life science, biomedical engineering or related fields  4+ years managing development programs in the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device and /or life science industries Successful track record of bringing new technology/products to market Significant contributions in all stages of product development (concept to post-launch) for successful customer-facing products Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment Interpersonal and facilitation skills- proven ability to effectively build relationships and achieve consensus across a wide range of functions and constituents Communication- Must be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization Business Knowledge - Sound grasp of the key business drivers and considerations in the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device and /or life science industries Leadership – ability to identify key issues, motivate and empower others to address them in a way which builds morale, generates ownership and commitment Self starter with superior problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills and a track record for high performance and superior delivery Strong quantitative and qualitative skills; detail-oriented with ability to see the big picture and to work effectively at both high and detailed levels

Additional Desirable Skills To Have

Advanced degree in life sciences PMP Certification Experience with 10x’s Single-Cell or Spatial products Experience with Next Generation Sequencing products and process Demonstrated experience developing and commercializing complex genetic analysis systems 

 

Below is the base pay range for this full time position.  The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package.  This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.  Your 10x recruiter can share more about the Company’s total compensation package during the hiring process.

Pay Range$122,000—$166,000 USD
