Short Description:
The Department of Information Systems (DIS) is seeking a proven IT Project Manager. The qualified candidate will have successful experience in leading multiple IT projects as well as overall departmental strategic planning background.
Complete Description:
DIS will be augmenting its existing PM Staff in support of the increasing business demand. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in support of multiple projects. Projects are assigned to the team based on workload and experience. Specifically, the initial responsibilities will include working with all DIS Division Managers to facilitate and manage the overall Agency Strategic Plan Additional projects could include, but not limited to: networking, security, operations, application development, and warehousing.
• Strong experience in implementing large scale network conversions
• Experience with IT organizations
• Strong Senior Project Management Experience
Proficient in more than one IT architectural discipline defined as information technology; large WAN networks, computer programming, computer security, computer systems analysis, database management, information systems, internet applications and development, software development, and related fields
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
-Report to the COO
-Coordinate all activities related to facilitating and managing the DIS Strategic Plan.
-Coordinate all activities related to facilitating and managing all assigned projects.
-Develop business cases to support work.
As well as:
Perform general project management activities.
Coordinate and monitor daily activities and work assignments of contractors, consultants or other staff assigned to the project.
Monitor status of all project tasks, activities and deliverables, and advise DIS Leaders of any significant variations, issues, risks, etc.
Attend or conduct project management, report and review sessions.
Report project status updates to DIS Leaders.
Review and maintain technical project work plan, and report any changes to DIS Leaders
Review and approve project deliverables.
Facilitate project communications, ensuring that appropriate resources are notified of, and available for planned project activities.
Transition business processes into business and technical requirements.
Review, analyze, and evaluate business and IT systems and user needs.
Evaluate and revise business and IT processes.
Lead and direct the work of others.
Anticipate and resolve issues.
Sets deadline, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress.
Proficient in one or more project management tools.
Ensure that all project goals are accomplished according to specifications and business objectives.
Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Identify and track issues, risks and action items.
Anticipate, identify, track and resolve issues and risks affecting own work and work of the project team.
Develop contingency plans as necessary.
Consistently provide accurate and detailed estimates
May analyze or recommend commercially available software or other IT architectural components
Execution of all responsibilities with little direct supervision.
Manage Vendor Deliverables
Mentor and coach peers.
Provide knowledge transfer to peers
Provide measurable intellectual capital in developing solutions and solving problems.
Experience developing architectural components to functional, technical and industry standards.
