This position typically reports to the VP of Sustainment (or other delegated organizational leader) and is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of one or more established engineering program(s) contained at a single location. The Program Manager of Aviation Safety is responsible for the management of safety and compliance activities related to the applicable aviation operations governing regulations (e.g. FAA, DCMAI 8210, EMAR 145, Contractor Flying Approved Organization Scheme (CFAOS), etc.).
Program Manager will directs all phases of program(s) from initiation through delivery. Applies established technologies that require advanced principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate managers. Responsible for decisions that could have an extended impact on outcomes where erroneous decisions could result in critical delays and modifications to programs.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Manage the Aviation Safety Group
+ Serve as Aviation Safety Official (ASO) for specific GA-ASI locations
+ Serve as Flight Safety Officer (FSO) for specific programs or locations
+ Maintain oversight of the company Aviation Safety Program
+ Maintain day to day management of the Aviation Safety Management System (ASMS)
+ Oversee and conduct safety audits at Contiguous United States (CONUS) and OCONUS locations to meet company and government requirements
+ Oversee and manage the incident and hazard reporting processes including chairing incident and hazard review boards
+ Oversee damage cost tracking mechanisms
+ Chair the quarterly Aviation Safety Council meetings
+ Supervise Safety Investigation Boards (SIB)
+ Ensure various safety and operational compliance regulations, GA-ASI instructions are maintained and disseminated to all stakeholders
+ Manage the Sustainment Flash Report process
+ Oversee production of safety communication for all operating locations
+ Ensure management is notified of critical hazard and incidents
+ Ensure adequate archiving and processes are in place
+ Ensure key personnel are trained on the ASMS and the contents of the ASMM
+ Ensure adequate safety resources are available to support the operation of the ASMS
+ Manage cost associated with direct and indirect charge labor and other direct and indirect cost (travel etc.) in support of Aviation Safety requirements.
+ Other duties as assigned or required.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ This position typically requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in engineering, science or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex program administration experience with at least five of those years managing programs.
+ Must have a background in Aviation (Aircrew, Maintenance, Aviation Management etc.)
+ Must be familiar with Federal Aviation or ICAO standard Safety Management Systems
+ Graduate of the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Government Flight Representative course is preferred
+ Background in military aviation (Aircrew or Maintenance) is preferred
+ Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by directing and participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
+ Must be able to develop solutions to complex problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
+ Demonstrates extensive technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
+ Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
