**Undergraduate Academic Affairs has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Manager for Academic Partnerships to join their team.**
Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) shapes, advances and stewards a world-class undergraduate academic experience for students at the University of Washington. Staff, faculty and students in UAA deepen and enrich the learning experience for all undergraduates, recognizing and supporting the unique learning path of each individual student and the commitment of each academic program to excellence in learning and teaching.
Within UAA, First Year Programs (FYP) is responsible for the annual entry and transition of all new University of Washington students (approximately 9100 first year and transfer students) and family members (about 5000). First Year Programs fosters a successful undergraduate student experience through strategic programming that focuses on positive academic transitions and the development of learning communities. FYP adheres to the guiding philosophies of collaboration, intentionality, diversity and inclusion. Specific FYP programs include: Advising and Orientation programs, Parent Orientation, Dawg Daze Welcome Week, the First-year Interest Group (FIG) program, University seminars, and the Commuter and Transfer Commons.
The Program Manager’s primary responsibilities are to work with the Advising & Orientation (A&O) Program and the First Year Interest Groups. The Program Manager will be an active member of the A&O Planning team and responsible for Freshman, Transfer and International A&O planning and logistics. The success of this position is highly dependent on strong organizational and project management skills, establishing and maintaining successful relationships with colleagues and units within Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA), the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity (OMA&D), Student Life, college and departmental units (including administrative and academic advising offices), faculty, senior campus administrators, and external partners and suppliers.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** 45% Advising & Orientation (A&O) Program Management:
+ Design, coordinate, and execute A&O programs, specifically academic advising appointments prior to each academic quarter.
+ Actively contribute to the A&O Planning Team, which consists of staff members managing A&O programs for freshman, transfer, and international students, and parents.
+ Partner with academic departments to develop individual departmental orientation programs.
+ Facilitate bi-annual or quarterly meetings with all departments to update on program changes and re-assess departmental programming models.
+ Coordinate website and publications regarding A&O including brochures, confirmation letters, and the orientation reservation system (VisualZen).
+ Assist with the management of the A&O budget of $600,000.00.
+ Facilitate planning for on-campus A&O programming.
+ Collaborate with the Executive Director of FYP to assess A&O programming in order to demonstrate achievement of desired outcomes and to determine areas for future development.35% Curriculum & Course Instruction
+ Serve as the instructor of record for the academic success courses General Studies 370 to support Orientation Leaders (OL) each Spring Quarter and General Studies 470 to support First-year Interest Group (FIG) Leaders each Autumn Quarter during the academic year. These courses promote academic success by facilitating students’ engagement in their own learning. Specifically, the purpose of these courses is to ensure that current students are better able to support incoming first year and transfer student transitions. Teaching these courses is a part of this position’s regular duties, does not authorize excess compensation, does not require nor confer a faculty title, and is subject to UWHR policies (e.g., student complaint resolution).
+ Oversee the training and development of 30+ Orientation Leaders (OL) in the spring and summer quarters, which includes, in addition to course instruction, designing curriculum and providing management support through the summer quarter.
+ Plan additional OL training sessions in line with the needs of the Advising & Orientation (A&O) program.10% FYP Communications
+ Develop and execute regular email, marketing, and communication for Advising & Orientation.
+ Manage external communications (FYP update emails, meeting slideshows, campus partner communications)
+ Serve as a backup-administrator for Marketo as needed10% Provide leadership, training, and direct supervision for the following student positions
+ Student Coordinators for Programs (2 students)
+ Orientation Leaders (30 students) **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
+ This position is 100% in person and may work in a shared office depending on unit needs. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
+ 2-4 years experience in higher education working with diverse populations. _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong project management skills and supervision
+ Strong organizational skills, creativity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and deadlines.

+ Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently and be flexible while being part of a team
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint)
+ Ability to work independently and stay on task.
+ A clearly articulated philosophy for academic/personal development for students transitioning to college or from one college to another
+ The capacity and persistence necessary to be productive within a large, decentralized, and dynamic university environment
+ The ability to work occasional extended hours or weekends depending on the needs of FYP programs and services **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Have a knowledge of/experience with college transitional programming and student retention strategies.
+ Have a knowledge of/experience with the administration of credit bearing academic planning and administration.
+ Demonstrate experience simultaneously managing multiple projects at various stages of implementation.
+ Familiarity with accessibility guidelines and implementing accommodations for web content
+ Comfort with learning or implementing HTML and CSS for web, database and email content
