Job Purpose
The Program Manager will oversee and manage university wide initiatives which promote research opportunities for high-impact academic and professional development, especially for undergraduates, as well as strategic and supportive efforts to guide applicants pursuing these opportunities. Working closely with the Senior Vice Provost and other College to Career staff, the Program Manager will expand on campus research opportunities and provide support to faculty for career engaged learning programming as part of the university’s College to Career initiative. This position reports to the Director, Operations
Essential Functions
Conduct extensive, multi-mode outreach to faculty, students, and staff to increase the number of students applying for and participating in transformative opportunities for academic and professional development and create a culture of research and career engaged learning that generates awareness and support from the university community as a whole.
Provide responsive, affirming, and expert advising opportunities for current students who engage with the office, offering personal guidance and application assistance that emphasizes the opportunities for personal and professional growth that result from application process itself.
Oversee the implementation of the Foragerone platform and support its broad adoption by faculty and students. Work closely with the Division of Research and Innovation and schools and colleges to coordinate research activities for students.
Oversee the development of comprehensive processes, resources, communication plans, and campus partnerships and develop and maintain useful Canvas, web, and print information resources.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases of research and transformative opportunities, student applicants and potential applicants, and faculty connections.
Collaborate effectively with the Senior Vice Provost and staff in the Office of the Vice President for Research and manage the efforts of faculty advisors and other related university offices.
Work effectively with campus partners and assemble and regularly convene a committee of faculty, staff, and student research liaisons. Cultivate a detailed knowledge base of research and transformative opportunities and work to regularly incorporate best practices and positive trends in undergraduate
research opportunities.
Provide assistance and logistical support to faculty who are utilizing career engaged learning opportunities in the classroom – assist with field trips, guest speakers, and other related activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree.
Bachelor’s degree in from an accredited university in Higher Education or related field.
Experience
Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience)
Prior academic research advising experience, preferably in higher education.
Expertise in career engaged learning practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of higher education advising practices.
Ability to adjust priorities based on departmental needs.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred.
