Program Manager - Volunteer

Job Summary:
The Volunteer Program Manager leads the hospice volunteer program by integrating services, optimizing resources, and developing innovative initiatives to attract and retain volunteers. The manager ensures volunteer satisfaction and engagement while supporting coordinators in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers. Responsibilities include directing community recruitment efforts, scheduling training, monitoring outcomes, and mentoring coordinators.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Healthcare Administration preferred).

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in healthcare or hospice, preferably in volunteer coordination.

Skills:

Knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care practices.

Familiarity with hospice volunteer program regulations.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to engage with diverse volunteers and healthcare professionals.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Transportation: Reliable transportation required.

Travel: 25% travel; combination of office, field visits, and potential remote work.

Health Status: Compliance with agency health policies.

Key Accountabilities:

Align volunteer activities with Elara Caring’s mission and leadership vision.

Maintain patient and staff confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.

Develop volunteer programs to maximize community impact.

Act as liaison between coordinators and leadership, addressing feedback.

Coach and train volunteer coordinators to ensure policy adherence.

Ensure adequate volunteer staffing to meet service goals.

Track and manage volunteer statistics and cost-savings reports.

Strengthen community relationships for volunteer outreach and awareness.

Coordinate awareness campaigns with marketing and leadership teams.

Oversee policies to ensure program compliance.

Perform other assigned duties.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

Work in a physically demanding, high-stress environment.

Potentially work irregular hours, including on-call availability.

Lift up to 50-100 lbs and perform patient transfers.

Exposure to blood, communicable diseases, and chemicals.

Adhere to safety and bloodborne pathogen protocols.
