Job Summary:
The dual role of the successful candidate as Advisory College System and Edward D. Viner Center for Humanism Program Specialist will support the CMSRU Office of Student Affairs, primarily focusing on current and new initiatives in support of program development, management, and coordination of the Advisory Colleges System of Career Advising. In addition, this role will support the CMSRU Center for Humanism and will primarily focus on current and new initiatives in support of program development, management, and coordination of the Center for Humanism initiatives.
The successful candidate will work in conjunction with and report to the Executive Director of the Advisory College System and other respective parties in the Advisory College System and the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). As Program Specialist for the Center for Humanism role, the position will report to the Associate Dean for Professional Development in the Viner Center for Humanism, working in conjunction with Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter Advisors and other respective members of the Center for Humanism.
In these roles, the individual must exercise independent judgment and maintain confidential and sensitive materials.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and organizational skills in planning, implementing, and managing projects, performing duties as needed surrounding the Advisory Colleges System of Advising/Learning Communities. Provide support to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Student Affairs, and the Executive Director of the Advisory Colleges in developing existing and launching new advisory college initiatives. Coordinates with the OSA Program Specialist to review Advisory College budgetary processing. Provide administrative support to the Advisory Colleges Learning Communities, managing day-to-day operations, including coordinating meetings and taking meeting minutes. Manage and coordinate Advisory College events and activities, including off-campus events, performing administrative duties as necessary. Liaison with faculty and staff, collaborating with faculty members, advisers, and school leadership to ensure effective communication and coordination of the career advising system's initiatives and services. Provide support in managing projects and performing duties as needed surrounding Residency Match (NRMP) support; manage the collection of student time-sensitive data surrounding the Residency Match (NRMP) application. Provide administrative representation and support for external databases and services including, but not limited to: the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Careers in Medicine (CiM), AAMC Deans Work Station (DWS), and Texas STAR. Perform advisory college program assessment through data collection and surveying of students, faculty, and staff as part of institutional continuous quality improvement. Coordinate, plan, implement, and manage projects, while providing administrative support as needed for the Viner Center for Humanism initiatives, including the Gold Humanism Honor Society Provide support to the Associate Dean for Professional Development and other respective parties, including Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter Advisors (GHHS) for Center for Humanism initiatives Manage and coordinate Gold Humanism Honor Society student events and activities Provide oversight to advisory committees, including facilitating meeting minutes, for the Viner Center for Humanism faculty/staff members Provide support to the Viner Center for Humanism Faculty surrounding the Asclepian Journal of Art and Literature Perform program assessment through data collection and surveying Ability to be an independent, responsible self-starter. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Perform administrative and event support for the CMSRU Office of Student Affairs and the Viner Center for Humanism as needed. Additional duties as assigned.Additional position information: Occasional evening hours are required.
Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in an education, science or health-related field Minimum of three years of relevant experience in program coordination/administration at an institution of higher education, business or healthcare environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Diligent work ethic Ability to handle multiple demands while maintaining flexibility and adaptability Advanced organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft 365 & Google applications, online platforms, data entry and analytics Ability to interact and work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external constituencies from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.Qualifications (preferred)
Master’s degree in education, science or health related field Previous work in a medical school or healthcare environmentSalary: Competitive
