Helen Keller Services for the Blind is currently seeking a Full-Time Program Supervisor to join our Day Habilitation Department located in Hempstead, NY.
SUMMARY
Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, goals and objectives through the Day Habilitation Program.
The Program Supervisor will assist the Director, Day Habilitation Director, with providing supervision for the overall functioning of the Day Habilitation Program (located in Hempstead and PWW in Islandia). The Program Supervisor will provide supervision and support to the Direct Support Staff.
Has financial, compliance and risk management accountability for programs and departments within the defined span of control.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Provide individual weekly or bi-monthly supervision to assigned professional staff.
+ Meet weekly with the program Director.
+ Schedule program staff to assure adequate coverage.
+ Conduct a minimum of one classroom observation monthly.
+ Coordinate and conduct new staff orientation program for all Day Habilitation staff as required.
+ Conduct annual in-serve training as required.
+ Provide intensive classroom training for direct support staff.
+ Attend all IDT meetings as scheduled.
+ Responsible for the planning, implementation and review of each individual’s treatment/day habilitation plans.
+ Partner with Human Resources department to recruit, interview and hire staff as required as requested by the Director of Day Habilitation.
+ Attend all committee meetings and act as the chairperson as requested.
+ Fill in for absent staff as necessary.
+ Assume all responsibilities of the Director in their absence.
+ Communicate with the program participants’ residence and representatives.
+ Complete annual performance evaluations on staff.
+ Assure all documentation is submitted for billing in a timely manner according to Agency guidelines.
+ Complete any additional tasks as assigned.
Responsible for other duties as may be assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor and/or the Director of the Department.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
The minimum job qualification for the position of Program Supervisor includes a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service Field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with the developmentally disabled or a high school diploma with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the field with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of OPWDD regulations.
Valid NYS Driver’s License required.
Basic computer skills.
