Summary The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the organization, coordination, implementation and ongoing management of the Infection Prevention Program within the Department of Quality, Safety and Value (QSV), located within the St. Cloud VA Health Care System in St. Cloud, MN. Responsibilities Major duties: Assists with developing, analyzing and reporting all Infection Prevention/Multi-Drug Resistant Organism (MDRO) monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to Service Lines/Program Areas, Infection Prevention Committee, Environment of Care Counsel, Medical Executive Board, Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and other committees and workgroups as indicated. Reviewing appropriate CPRS patient information and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reports to clarity and collect data: type of organism/infection, trends, surveillance, and other epidemiological analyses. Developing educational offerings, storyboards, and/or staff notices as guided by the Infection Prevention Nurse/MIDRO Coordinator to convey program information to target audiences. Conducts follow-up monitoring evaluation activities or special studies involving Infection Prevention processes Participates in environment of care rounds, construction rounds and other types of rounding as needed to identity infection prevention risks or issues. Tracking and reviewing data and event information for entry in the Inpatient Evaluation Center (IPEC) database. Performing coverage duties when the Infection Prevention Nurse and/or MDRO Coordinator is out of the office in collaboration with the Director, QSV. Assisting with the planning of Lean Six Sigma education events and project tracking. Performing other related quality management related duties as assigned. Adhering to the highest level of confidentiality when managing individual protected information. Protects generated information from unauthorized release and from loss, alteration or unauthorized deletion. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/21/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized includes: Collecting and analyzing data and statistical information and preparing reports based on analysis; utilizing office automation programs and software to create reports, spreadsheets, and complete assignments; develops graphs and charts to display trending and tracking patterns, scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings; coordinating the distribution of documents for review and signature by various stakeholders; composing correspondence, reviewing and editing for completeness, and distributing information to targeted audience. Preferred experience in developing an agenda, recording meeting minutes and formatting policies. Physical Requirements: The work is predominately sedentary in nature with some walking, bending, carrying books, binders or files. Intense concentration is needed when performing all aspects of work to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Work Environment: The majority of the work is performed in an office setting; however, the incumbent will frequently use meeting room space and may visit all areas of the medical center as part of routine work. The work involves everyday risks and discomforts typical of offices and meeting rooms. Infrequent travel may be required.
