Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer with 4 to 6 years of experience in SQL Server DB Administration and DB2 administration (system DBA). The role involves managing and optimizing database systems to ensure high performance and availability. The candidate will work from our office and will be part of a rotational shift schedule.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain SQL Server and DB2 databases to ensure optimal performance and availability.Oversee database backup recovery and security measures to protect data integrity.Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.Implement and monitor database performance tuning and optimization strategies.Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize database schemas.Conduct regular database health checks and generate performance reports.Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.Develop and maintain database documentation including configuration and operational procedures.Participate in capacity planning and database scaling activities.Coordinate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of database systems with other applications.Monitor and manage database storage and resource utilization.Assist in the planning and execution of database upgrades and migrations.Provide training and support to junior database administrators and other IT staff.Qualifications
Possess strong experience in SQL Server DB Administration and DB2 administration (system DBA).Demonstrate proficiency in database backup recovery and security practices.Exhibit excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Show ability to optimize database performance and conduct tuning activities.Have experience in collaborating with application developers for database design.Display knowledge of data governance and security policies.Be capable of developing and maintaining comprehensive database documentation.Have experience in capacity planning and database scaling.Be proficient in monitoring and managing database storage and resources.Show ability to assist in database upgrades and migrations.Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.Be willing to work in a rotational shift schedule.Have a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 6 years of relevant experience.The Cognizant community:
