Job Description

Pay Range: $50.70 to $63.40 per hour

The Programmer Analyst II role is to define, design, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software applications and packaged software based on business requirements involving the various systems utilized at Foster Farms to support the Assigned Areas. The Programmer Analyst II will also develop, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production software lifecycle.  The Programmer Analyst II should possess thorough knowledge of numerous application functions, both SAP and Non-SAP.  Competencies include hands on experience developing programs for in at least one programming language, developing complex software programs, performing complex packaged software configuration and handling assignments with little direction. The Programmer Analyst II provides, with minimal direction, resolution to complex technical software issues. This includes analytical, evaluation, programming and configuration skills including the ability to design, program and configure complex software solutions.

Duties will include maintenance and support of Assigned Areas, including troubleshooting and problem resolution. This position will be skilled at SAP and non-SAP development and with SQL database management and querying.  This position will be knowledgeable about SAP capabilities (including associated transactions, configuration, and master data) in Consumer Goods companies.  Create new and update existing SAP and other relevant applications.  Conduct thorough application changes.  Coordinate changes with other systems analysts and developers.  Provide comprehensive technical, user, testing, design, master data, and functional documentation.  Interact with all levels of manufacturing, operations, logistics, accounting, and product management user groups obtaining thorough business process expertise and in providing support to users of Assigned Systems.  Participate in nearly all aspects of systems implementation projects within Assigned Areas.  Research and stay current with trends in Assigned Areas. Provide guidance to internal users to promote the use of the Assigned Areas systems and to coordinate and support Assigned Areas project efforts. 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position will work as a member of the Business Systems Team having frequent contact with team members, subject matter experts, business end users to develop, test, document, configure, implement, and support assigned software solutions.  This position will provide support of multiple programs within a single function and will require experience in supporting and troubleshooting program and configuration application errors.  This position requires communication with IT Business Systems management, software vendors, and end users.  The ability to communicate with others (listening and understanding complex requirements as well as articulating a complex thought process) efficiently is critical.This position requires consistent demonstration of all IT values as defined by IT Management: Leadership, Communications, Integrity, Teamwork, Caring and Professionalism, and a Make IT Happen Attitude.This position will require a close working relationship with other programming, database, technical, operations, and other support team members to ensure knowledge transfer in areas such as complex programming, configuration, troubleshooting, design, documentation, interfaces, testing methods and tools, and other programming and configuration related topics. This position requires the ability to learn and demonstrate technical skills and knowledge. This position requires programming and application configuration experience. Tasks associated with this position can be complex and can be ambiguous. This position is expected to participate in coding, configuration, testing, and documentation efforts for complex software processes.   This position may participate, with direction and guidance, in business process reengineering, and building and deploying new software and applications.This position will be required to participate in moderate to large programming and configuration related projects.This position requires minimal supervision in completing assigned tasks. This position requires training and experience to increase skill level and broaden understanding of certain programming languages, applications, and their design considerations. This position may require training in IT concept and practices, and the ability to comply with all IT change management and implementation practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Will provide design and implementation support for the ongoing projects within Assigned Areas. This may include requirement collection, solution design and concept writing as well as performing heavily customizing activities of SAP systems and their interfaces to other non-SAP systems.Will provide primary end user support for the SAP and non-SAP systems. This includes:Troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of end user problems.Performing routine system maintenance checks and corrective actions such as maintaining, adjusting, and manipulating interface intermediate documents (IDocs) where applicable (e.g. WMS / EDI).Contribute to ongoing system improvement efforts to include:Collecting requirements from business users, researching available solutions, developing and documenting conceptual design alternativesCommunicate effective conceptual designs, writing technical specifications and coordinating development work with more senior analysts and/or programming staff, building and configuring prototypes and prototype documentation.Communicate with and educate business users, conduct unit testing and coordinate integration and user acceptance testing.Work with security team to ensure appropriate system authorization, migrating to production.Prepare comprehensive and thorough design and training documentation, train subject matter experts, provide post-implementation support efforts.Will interact regularly with end users, engaging in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of production issues, and providing continuous improvements to all aspects of design and processes.Additional duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

MINIMUM requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or engineering required.Minimum 3-7 years of experience in Systems Development, developing moderately complex IT solutions to improve business processes.Minimum of 3-7 years of progressive responsibility in software analysis, design, development, configuration and programming including experience using one or more of SAP ABAP, C, C++, Visual Basic (VB), Java, and/or PL/SQL, VB.NET, Java, PL/SQL, Socket Programming, Shell Scripts or Perl.Thorough understanding and use of coding methods and best practices.Experience developing systems using relational database using SQL Server and/or Oracle.Ability to perform moderately complex programming, including capability to design and various customizing techniques, with little direction.Understanding of how to interview end users for insight on functionality, problems, or usability issues and needs.Understanding of software development lifecycle phases and activities, and project management principles.Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with members of other IT and business teams, both written and verbal.Thorough understanding of developing and completing test cases and test scenarios.Demonstrated ability to prepare technical and user documentation for projects and enhancements.Demonstrated capability to work to a structured work plan with aggressive milestones and have strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making ability.Self-motivated and directed.Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to effectively execute complex tasks in a changing and demanding environment with little directionStrong service orientation skills with a desire to help others.Experience working both independently and in a team oriented, collaborative environment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree.3-7 years of IT experience working in a manufacturing organization for a $1+ billion organization.Broad consumer products industry experience strongly preferred.Familiarity with HTML, XML, XSL, and other B2B communication techniques and standards desired
