The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional Head of Inland Marine NA, this position leads a Program Practice Group (PPG) with representatives from each zone to facilitate the sourcing and onboarding of additional inland marine programs. They act as the lead representative at program conferences, engaging with brokers, intermediaries, and program managers. Additionally, they oversee corporate governance requirements related to Managing General Agents (MGAs) at AzC. The role involves negotiating participation, pricing, and terms and conditions for large or critical clients, as well as taking ownership and ultimate responsibility for these accounts. The individual also focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
• A key resource within Inland Marine for program activities. Research, develop, and implement programs for NA Inland Marine in coordination with zones and represent organization with external and internal business partners.
• Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB, while managing referrals and handle complex business as needed. Participate, and possibly lead, a Programs Practice Group with representatives from each zone in North America. Promulgate new program opportunities. Manage corporate governance requirements for MGA inland marine contracts. Work with Program Lead to assist in any future program infrastructure enhancement (i.e. ingesting bordereau).
• Positively represent AzC externally to the market. Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. MMC, ARC, Claims, Operations.
• Design, develop, and implement consistent and robust contract wordings. This involves ensuring all contracts comply with the legal and regulatory framework and align with the company's policies and objectives. The Program Manager should have an expert understanding of these frameworks to effectively draft and interpret contracts.
• Oversee the policy administration life cycle, including information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellations. This task requires a robust understanding of the policy management process to ensure efficient and accurate handling of all policy-related activities.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
• A minimum 7 years’ significant experience in Underwriting profitable inland marine business in LoB. Expert understanding of LoB products and portfolio. Well recognized established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market.
• Expert understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape. Expert understanding of legal and regulatory framework. Significant experience working in a complex global matrix organization leading a team of professionals.
• Preferably a Master’s degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline.
• Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII).
• Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB. Analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs.
• Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings. Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation.
• Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story. Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority. Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire. Ability to leverage expertise and skills to influence others to achieve business strategy and goals, etc.
