Burlington Stores, Inc. is looking for an experienced Construction Project Accountant that will be responsible for ensuring requisitions, purchase orders and invoices are reviewed, processed and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and adheres to all government laws and regulations. Duties include but are not limited to reviewing, analyzing and verifying data and required documentation, managing month end and year end close processes, establishing new vendor set up and payment, as well as performing special projects as required.
A Day in the Life:
Accounts and Vendor ManagementOversee timely and accurate management and processing of all accounting related items, requisitions, purchase orders, pay applications and invoices for specific projects to ensure proper general ledger and project coding and information on invoices. Coordinate with the Accounts Payable team to rectify outstanding payments and payment errors, ensure the payments are codes appropriately and paid in a timely manner. Review vendor invoice aging reports and proactively communicate with vendors regarding payment requirements and timing.Manage and respond to Lease Administration requests to provide required documentation for tenant improvement allowances generated by the construction team in a timely and complete manner.Cost ControlEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax and accounting policies. Collaborate with Sr. Financial Analyst and project management team, ensuring proper compliance with accounting procedures at all times and when conducting monthly variance analysis on actual vs. budgeted project costs. Provide recommendations for improving cost controls.Maintain internal process controls to monitor project change orders and other potential change items related to budgets and project costs. Ensure accuracy in change order and job costing accrual entries.Cost PlanningManage month end and year end close processes, including monthly project reconciliations, job cost allocations, payment schedules and reconciliation of construction related accounts. Utilize internal systems to pull reports and provide data, assist in gathering data in preparation of monthly journal entries, provide guidance on proper coding of invoices and allocation of costs.Identify, escalate and recommend resolutions to resolve accounting and invoicing issues proactively.Perform any additional duties and ad-hoc reporting requested by management.You'll Come With:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance1-3 years related accounting experience
Experience in Construction industry a plus

Position will be a permanent Accounting & Finance position assigned to the Construction & Planning Department(s). The role will take a lead to ensure proper compliance with the Company’s purchase order and invoice processing policy and procedures while collaborating with teammates on the Construction Finance team as well as the Construction, Design and Planning teams to ensure accurate and timely payments to vendors, accurate accounting and actionable reporting.
