How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) 

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Project Accountant, you will contribute to the financial success and growth of the company by ensuring accurate financial reporting to support decision making, planning, and control processes.  Under direction of the Controller, and in accordance with corporate policies and procedures the successful Sr Accountant will manage all project cost-related functions for SPX Cooling US and Canada. The incumbent will have a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret financial data effectively, and the capacity to communicate complex financial information to various stakeholders within and outside the organization. 

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) 

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: 

 

Financial Reporting and Analysis  Perform settlements on warranty, R&D, and commercial projects and analyze and present results. Create ad hoc and gross margin reports. Prepare, reconcile, and analyze the job cost audit report monthly. Work with Project Managers to understand and be able to report on the current financial position, including budget, and actuals for various projects. 

 

Payroll and Journal Entries Review and post field payroll, engineering allocation, and other monthly journal entries, including freight accruals and warrant accruals. Reconcile various general ledger accounts and provide supporting documentation. Update estimates at completion (EAC) on commercial projects using over time revenue recognition (ASC 606) in SAP ERP system, monthly.

 

Compliance and Documentation  Assist with internal/external audit request related to project cost and fixed assets and periodic compliance testing. Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.  Responsible for all SPX Cooling Americas locations.

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education) 

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: 

 

Required Experience 

Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience.

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

Percentage of completion or overtime revenue recognition accounting. Proficiency in Microsoft products.

 

Education & Certifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

 

Travel & Working Environment 

Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period. The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours.  Keyboarding/typing. Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy. Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
