Project Accountant
Description We are in search of a Project Accountant to join our growing construction and development client in Santa Monica, California. This role involves managing project budgets, conducting financial analysis, and overseeing invoice processing and approval. The Project Accountant will also be responsible for contract compliance and hands-on project management. Responsibilities: • Oversee the management of budgets for multiple high-end residential projects • Conduct regular updates of cost projections and maintain project dashboards • Review and approve Construction Draws (G702/G703) and consultant invoices from multiple vendors • Manage change orders, vendor contracts, and schedules for contract compliance • Coordinate with clients, manage vendors, track project milestones, and ensure receipt of deliverables • Analyze and communicate project status to management effectively • Handle project analysis by updating cost projections and analyzing project financials • Track project costs, update projections, and prepare reports for executive management • Work independently to solve problems and ensure compliance with vendor contracts • Utilize Microsoft Excel for various tasks and maintain proficiency with the software. Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry. • Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations. • Extensive experience with General Ledger maintenance and Journal Entries. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Experience with Month End Close procedures. • Knowledge and experience in Construction Accounting and Construction Projects. • Familiarity with accounting specific to Construction Projects is highly preferred. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
