We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to oversee and coordinate various accounting functions and programs. This role is crucial in preparing financial analyses, revenue projections, and tax returns, as well as assisting with budget preparation and monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in accounting, preferably with experience in the engineering, architecture, or construction industries.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate accounting functions and programs.Prepare financial analyses and reports.Prepare revenue projections and forecast expenditures.Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and general ledger accounts.Prepare federal, state, local, and special tax returns.Partner with project DELTEK Consultant to ensure efficient implementation company-wide.Work with the ownership group to streamline accounting processes to reduce work paper and document requirements.Perform month-end/year-end close, financial statement preparation, and budget variances.Internally prepare all the data, month-end year-end, loans, and bank reconciliations, up to where the return would be completed.Manage payroll for 50 employees (in DELTEK), including reporting and payroll returns, unemployment insurance, and overseeing insurance renewals.Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.Partner with the ownership group to analyze data, forecast projects, implement budget changes, and ensure company finances are in line.Essential Skills3-10+ years of accounting experience.Experience with DELTEK software.Strong tenure in previous roles, ideally with long-term commitments.Familiarity with the engineering, architecture, design, or utilities industries.Proficiency in using accounting software (DELTEK VantagePoint) and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel).Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Accounting or similar; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.Proven experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable or a related finance position.Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.Knowledge of engineering industry billing practices and regulations is a plus.Work Environment
The position requires onsite work 5 days a week from 8 AM to 5 PM, with some flexibility in working hours. The office environment is collaborative, with about 12+ people present when full, and project managers frequently in and out. The accounting team works closely together fostering a great team environment. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $41.00
