Project Accountant
Description With a robust portfolio and a commitment to long-term growth, we are looking for a detail-oriented and driven Project Accountant to join our client's dynamic team. The Project Accountant will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. As a key financial business partner, you will collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and the wider accounting team to support budget management, cost-monitoring, and forecasting. Key Responsibilities: + Manage and track financial aspects of multiple projects, including budgets, costs, forecasts, and expenditures. + Prepare and analyze project financial status reports and ensure timely billing and revenue recognition. + Work closely with project managers to develop accurate forecasts and address any variances. + Maintain compliance with contract terms, government regulations, and company policies. + Reconcile project accounts, create journal entries, and prepare month-end and year-end closing entries specific to projects. + Ensure accurate and timely preparation of invoices and support accounts receivable collections efforts. + Provide detailed project cost insights and assist with decision-making by offering data-driven recommendations. + Review and monitor capital and operating expenses for assigned projects, ensuring all costs are accounted for accurately. + Support audits by providing data and documentation necessary for project-specific reviews. + Analyze potential risks, delays, or overruns and proactively report findings to management. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 3–5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on project accounting or cost accounting preferred. + Strong proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar platforms). + Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, macros, and data analysis. + Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision. + Knowledge of revenue recognition principles and cost accounting standards. + High level of attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams. + CPA certification or equivalent designation preferred but not required.
