Are you passionate about archaeology and ready to take your career to the next level? We're on the hunt for a Field Director-level Project Archaeologist to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This is your chance to lead archaeological projects across North Carolina and the Southeast region, while collaborating with our talented cultural resource teams nationwide. This is a full-time position with benefits. The position may include conducting field work, identifying artifacts, conducting laboratory analysis, writing reports, preparing proposals, and consulting with clients and stakeholders.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Responsible for conducting fieldwork and writing reports for archaeological projects.Manages a field crew and ensures that Field Technicians and Crew Chiefs are performing fieldwork to the highest standards.May serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on survey, testing, and small data recovery projects. Conducts archival research or field documentation and ensures the team is recording appropriate information or conducting appropriate analyses.Confidently identifies artifacts and recognizes natural and cultural features/stratigraphy.Responsible for ensuring field forms, data collection, and sample collection are consistent, complete, accurate, and follow project-specific requirements.Prepares more proposals and simple Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) documents.Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Ability to work and communicate with others in various environmental settings.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using both written and verbal skills.Ability to multi-task within flexible/fluid schedules and project needs.Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and walking on uneven surfaces carrying at least 20 lbs. of equipment, and ability to work in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.Performs other duties as assigned.
Required:Graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field (MA, MS, PhD) and a minimum of 5 years of Cultural Resource Management (CRM) experience.Ability to travel for extended periods of time, as needed (primarily throughout the southeast U.S.).Familiarity with the cultural history of the southeast.Secretary of Interior (SOI) qualified.Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.Ability to pass drug screening.Possession of a U.S. driver’s license, with acceptable violation history.
