**Job Description:**
Terracon is seeking a full-time **Project Archaeologist or Archaeological Principal Investigator** to join us in our **Minneapolis** or **St. Paul** office. This position offers the opportunity to perform and direct field studies, desktop reviews, technical studies, and project permitting to a variety of projects. The successful candidate will be seeking opportunity for growth working on a variety of development projects across the state and region. As a Project Archaeologist/Principal Investigator with Terracon, you will be responsible for:
+ Generating proposals with scope of work and cost estimates.
+ Preparing Cultural Resources Desktop Reviews.
+ Conducting archaeological field evaluations, as well as directing and supervising field staff during such evaluations.
+ Assisting more senior level scientists on larger, more complex projects.
+ Coordinating with clients and sub-consultants.
+ Consulting with state and federal agencies, tribal groups, and other stakeholders.
+ Performing National Register evaluations for archaeological sites.
+ Preparation of written reports.
Requirements/Preferences:
+ Graduate degree (MA, MS, PhD) in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the practice. Minimum of two years of field experience in Minnesota (required)
+ Working knowledge of Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 138, Sections 31–42, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other pertinent State and Federal legislation.
+ Secretary of Interior qualified as a Professional Archaeologist (required)
+ Register of Professional Archaeologist (RPA) (preferred)
+ Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and walking on uneven surfaces carrying at least 20 lbs. of equipment, and ability to work in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.
+ Ability to travel for overnight (including multiple days away) work assignments.
