Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing concepts and technical requirements for each phase of the design process, producing construction drawings, coordinating with clients and engineering trades, reviewing drawings for code compliance, and overseeing the production of architectural drawings. This role also involves managing junior staff and attending planning board meetings. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of building codes and land-use, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
+ Develop concepts and technical requirements for each phase of the design process for ground-up projects.
+ Produce construction drawings using Revit and compile full construction document sets for mixed-use multi-family projects.
+ Coordinate and work with clients; liaise with engineering trades to ensure deliverables are met.
+ Review all drawings for code compliance.
+ Oversee production of architectural drawings by junior staff and manage junior staff members.
+ Attend planning board meetings if licensed; participate in zoning and planning.
+ Oversee and produce all deliverables from schematic design through construction administration.
+ Conduct zoning analyses and code reviews for new construction projects.
+ Manage the Land Use Approvals process and oversee design and details through construction documents.
+ Conduct quality assurance and quality control for all deliverables.
+ Oversee reviews for constructability with civil, structural, and MEP engineers and other project consultants.
+ Lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and manage project schedules and budgets.
+ Act as Project Manager and serve as the main client contact on selected projects.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Revit for completing full sets of construction drawings for mixed-use multi-family projects.
+ 7+ years of architectural experience, with at least 4 years in low-rise to mid-rise multi-family ground-up projects.
+ Strong understanding of building codes and land-use.
+ Ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
+ Capability to handle 5+ projects in different phases simultaneously.
+ Bachelor's degree in Architecture; registered architect is a plus.
+ Experience in coordinating with engineering trades and managing ground-up projects from inception to completion.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Adobe.
+ Experience with redlining, planning boards, zoning, and permitting.
+ Excellent client interaction skills.
+ In the process of becoming a licensed architect.
+ Experience with schematic design, conceptual design, and architectural interiors.
Work Environment
Our firm is based in Summit, NJ, specializing in corporate and office interiors as well as residential projects. We are organized into two studios: Workplace and Residential. The Workplace studio focuses on corporate and office interiors, while the Residential studio handles a mix of single-family residential and multi-family/mixed-use projects. Our projects range from 5 to 30 units, with some larger projects up to 100 units. We are known for our trendy and high-quality work, comparable to firms based in NYC. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr.
