Position Description:The Project Assistant works in the Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW), Street & Bridge Operations (SBO) Proactive Forestry Division. Under direct supervision, this position performs a combination of project and field inspections for QAQC . The successful candidate will be expected to monitor and complete contractor invoicing.

Criminal History Background Check:
The top candidate will be subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to hire date. The selected candidate will be subject to a Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Background Investigation after hire date with the City of Austin. A successful rating from both Criminal Background Investigation is required for this position. Failure to successfully pass the DPS investigation will result in separation of employment from the City of Austin.

Creates and maintains project progress monitoring data to track each project. Coordinates status updates for project related matters including providing updates to internal and external customers. Updates and maintains schedule data to ensure project consistency and optimization. Assists in resolution of project issues including any potential risks to team members by providing supporting documentation including policies and procedures. Communicates roles, expectations, and accountabilities to all team members on a regular basis. Advises management of problems, issues, and status of ongoing projects.
