Project Business Lead

Job Overview:

The Project Business Lead will report to the Director of Capital Projects and will lead a portfolio of projects on behalf of Linde Gases US.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Project Business Lead will report to the Director of Capital Projects and have the following responsibilities:

Collaborate with region businesses to scope winning solutions for business opportunities including being the subject matter expert, as needed, with customers on industrial gas projects including but not limited to O2 or N2 supply opportunities, CO2 sourcing, electronics projects, merchant additions or expansions, H2 supply or recovery, and small on site (SOS)Become viewed by Linde Gas as an expert in solutions for Linde’s customers, develop strong working knowledge of the Linde Engineering portfolio, and support business development efforts with scoping-quality cost comparisons between different operations with quick turnaround.Work closely with region operations director and POL to ensure alignment on project scope.Build up knowledge of third-party offerings that may compete with a Linde Gas solution and use such information to support the sales and business development process.Understand the LE work process and continually drive improvement for lower costs and improved efficiencies in the LG – LE work process.Challenge scoping and capital cost buildups with LE in a constructive and collaborative manner to ensure scope and associated capital cost are competitive for a given opportunity. Review risk analysis and recommended management reserve/business contingency.Participate in or lead project economic analysis as agreed with specific region.Manage “white spaces” of a project and ensure all portions of Linde are aligned during project execution. White spaces may include third party utility supply agreements, land acquisition agreement, tax abatement applications, environmental permitting, city/county permitting, or other regulatory approvals.Participate in the customer contract development to ensure defined investment, project economics and commitments in contract with the customer are fully aligned. Establish regular update schedule with each specific region business.Lead regular discussions with third party customers or sight hosts during development and execution as agreed with region business.Establish relationship with LGUS Large Projects Development team and LE engineering and execution teams focused on collaboration designed to deliver winning solutions to the business regions; give feedback to LE from the business region as needed.Demonstrate proficiency in project economic analysis for investment decisions and justifying scoping or plant selection decisions.Attend LGUS and IC Capex reviews where LGUS has projects for review; present and support as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, MBA a plusExperience with project work from a design, engineering, execution, or operations point of view.Experience working with Linde’s customers in the context of project development and execution.Knowledge of air separation processes, HyCO processes, and processes employed by our customers.Competence and confidence to present to and interact with senior level leadership.Proficiency in problem solving, analysis, and the ability collaborate with a team for the best solution.Understanding of how Linde makes money.
