Job Description
Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) operates as a user facility for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC), supporting the mission of the DOE-SC Office of Nuclear Physics. FRIB provides researchers the ability to study rare isotopes, or short-lived nuclei not normally found on Earth. This Project Controls Engineer will be hands-on with the scheduling tool (Primavera) and cost estimating system (Deltek Cobra). The role involves meeting with five other managers on the project, currently a $125 million endeavor supporting the integration of technical equipment into the particle accelerator. Responsibilities include collecting status updates, learning to integrate Primavera with Deltek Cobra, and mentoring a junior staff member. The engineer will work within a team which includes one senior-level and one junior-level staff member.

Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in East Lansing, Michigan and some days remote.
Work Environment
500+ employees, predominantly engineers. The environment consists of three buildings close to each other. FRIB earns revenue primarily through national defense contracts and research. The majority of work revolves around upgrading and maintaining the particle accelerator. The position is a 9-month contract-to-hire (CTH) opportunity with flexible hours (8-5 PM, with the option to start at 7, 8, or 9 AM). One day on-site and the remainder can be remote.
