Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Controls Manager will be responsible in providing project control support to ongoing projects and supporting the company’s estimating and construction teams to ensure that the company’s project controls system is properly implemented and utilized.
What You'll Do Here
Overall responsibility for compliance of assigned projects with project controls standards – both from applicable contract documents and from the projects project controls policies/guidelines. Establish & maintain strong partnerships with client counterparts and stakeholders Participate in estimation efforts, develop proposals schedules and initial Risk Registers. Review the project contract and ensure that all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, tracking and reporting, and closeout. Transform cost estimates to establish project budgets under the cost breakdown structure. Review proposal schedules, modify at award as required to generate baseline schedules. Ensure that budgeted hours align with resources loaded in P6. Manage developing, establishing, and maintaining the project cost control and scheduling processes. Set up Budget control processes (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit) Review and analyze the project control productivity reports with the project controls and project team, suggest corrective actions to maintain reasonable (around 1-PF) performance/productivity Oversee the review and analyze the project scheduling and cost reports and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost and schedule Generate project status reports and dashboards for internal management and client, incorporating Earned Value metrics, SPI, CPI, Manpower Histograms, Burndown Charts, S-Curves, Variance…etc.) Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings Monitor project performance, identify probable issues and flag them to Project Management. Capture procurement and subcontracts parameters and progress into Project Controls processes. Establish, monitor and control Change management processes in compliance with contract and Aecon procedures, and train the team to participate and contribute to those processes. Provide support to Commercial & Procurement teams on subcontractor claims assessment, client claims development, negotiations & dispute resolutions Prepare and update project cash flows in coordination with Finance, accounting and Payroll. Supervise and mentor the team and promote Project Controls awareness across the project team. As required, produce custom reports per request of customer or internal management. Provide input into the continuous improvement of Aecon's Project Controls policies and guidelines. Create, promote, and maintain a safe, open & respectful workplace culture and environment. What You Bring To The Team
10-15 years of proven Scheduling, Cost, Risk and Change Management and Reporting experience. Lead by example with exceptional hands-on experience in Primavera P6, SAP and Microsoft suite. College and/or University degree in related field, OR applicable work experience Applied knowledge of the Earned Value, Project Management and Controls principles Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employee
