Project Controls Specialist

This person will provide the Project Team with a responsive resource whose expertise meets the needs of the project: accurate cost control, reporting, forecasting, critical path method scheduling, and earned values measurement while contributing to the overall project profitability. The Project Controls Analyst/Specialist will provide accurate and timely production, productivity, scheduling, progress measurement and cost information, which allows the Project Manager and Client to be proactive towards, cost control and scheduling. Ensures budgets are accurate in the company's financial system; tracks and reports all client change orders and revises budgets in the company's financial system; ensures project complies with incremental funding and notification requirements for cost reimbursable government contracts. + Performs cost control functions; reviews timesheets, purchase requisitions, and vendor invoices for compliance with the approved work breakdown structure; ensures error corrections are processed timely in the company's financial system. + Supports/Supervises the preparation of the client invoice; organizes source documents, develops cost justifications, and tracks the collection of receivables. + Performs/Supervises the development of progress/production reporting systems and ensures updates are routine and accurate; tracks and reports on manpower and equipment utilization to project management; performs life cycle cost and value engineering analyzes. + Prepares/Supervises routine estimates of future project costs or forecasts; documents and explains budget variances; ensures project forecast accounts for all vendor commitments, realistic production targets, and for current schedule expectations; supports development of request for adjustments; inputs into corrective action plans to maximize company margins. + Prepares client and internal project/program status reports; coordinates report content from other project disciplines; prepares monthly internal revenue and margin projects; forecasts project billing and cash flow expectations. + Supports the project team in early identification and mitigation for any risks/impacts to scope, cost and schedule + Tracking claims and change order + Claims/change order analysis and negotiation + Closeout support + Coordinate with purchasing, production, and engineering + Review Accounts Payable invoices + Assist in preparation of client invoices and Accounts Receivable monitoring/management. + Review employee timesheets to ensure compliance with contract + Prepare Internal MPR -- Monthly Project Reporting Package + Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities in own area. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Business Management/Finance, or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent certifications/work experience. + Previous internships, membership organizations, etc. indicating interest and growth in area of expertise + Advanced experience level with MS Excel required + Experience with JD Edwards ERP software a plus + Ability to logically dissect a process into sequential steps for completion + Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. + 3-10 years work experience **Who we are and what we do:** APTIM is a global industry leader headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
