Our Los Angeles Structural office is located at the Bloc in Downtown Los Angeles. This is a non-exempt position. All overtime hours are paid at a time-and-a-half hourly rate.  

 

The ideal candidate is self-motivated with great collaboration skills, good time management skills, and a problem-solving mindset. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to resolve Accounts Receivable items in an accurate and timely manner, work individually and collaboratively with Project Managers, and assist in client billing and tracking project details.  

Responsibilities & Abilities  

The Accountant is part of an Accounting team reporting to the Accounting Manager. 

The Accountant will perform tasks alongside other members of the Accounting team in order to serve the business needs of the office. 

Maintain and analyze job cost records. 

Track contract and project information. 

Prepare cost, billing, and payment information updates for projects. 

Monitor project A/R – work closely with project managers and clients. 

Oversee collections efforts. 

Verify expenditures and detail for payment by the corporate accounting division. 

Oversee operating account vendor/employee payments and reconcile account for reimbursement by the corporate accounting division. 

Provide reporting center manager, principals and project managers with project information and other financial information as requested. 

Comply with requirements of the corporate accounting practices  

Provide creative, new metrics to enhance PM knowledge and visibility on projects. 

Coordinate and interact with corporate accounting division. 

Other miscellaneous Accounting tasks as assigned. 

Become an expert on BST10 accounting software functionality and office procedures, with the opportunity to educate others on best practices. 

Requirements 

A BA/BS degree with accounting/finance emphasis is highly preferred 

Two to five years applicable experience is required 

Positive attitude and ability to work in team environment, be proactive, and take initiative. 

Solid understanding of basic accounting process. 

Excellent & professional communication skills (by phone, in writing, and in person). 

Must work in our Downtown Los Angeles office 8-5 PM Monday through Friday. 

Detail oriented. 

Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. 

Ability to adapt quickly, and identify and resolve problems. 

Highly competent with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote) 

Highly competent with PDF management and organization 

Competent with Microsoft Teams 365 

Experience in an engineering consulting firm (or other professional services firm) is preferred.  

Experience developing custom reports and inquiries utilizing Excel is preferred. 

Experience with BST Global accounting systems is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

All duties are performed in a typical office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. 

Duties require the ability to actively engage with a computer for several hours per day. 

May occasionally need to lift items up to 15 lbs. 

Must be available to work 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday 

Must work in our Downtown Los Angeles office 3 days per week, 8 hours per day. Everyone is required to be in the office on Tuesdays. 

Up to two days per week may be worked remotely, following initial training period and probation.
