Job Overview

Perform accounting and administrative tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting related to construction project costs and revenue. Serve as interface between project teams and accounting department/systems, working closely with project teams to understand job status and performance.  Prepare reports, graphs, and other information as requested and directed.

Primary Responsibilities

Maintain project information in the ERP system – Vista Viewpoint.  Update, process, and maintain budget information to reflect change orders, supplemental agreements, and other events requiring budget revisions. Monitor and review project costs: payments to vendors; internal labor, equipment, and material charges. Receive monthly quantity and revenue schedules from customers; allocate receipts between general contractor and subcontractors, coordinate payments to subcontractors. Prepare and review cash flow projections, process/proof project estimates and payment vouchers, work with Project Managers to resolve any questions/issues with each estimate. Work closely with Project Managers to understand actual project performance and prepare variance analysis. Review and monitor Retainages Receivable from customers and Retainages Payable to subcontractors. Monitor and adjust expected job margins; prepare and assist the monthly job schedule, including review and monitor Billings in excess of costs and estimated earnings and Costs and estimated earnings in excess of billings accounts.  Timely and accurately prepare and distribute weekly, monthly, and annual job cost accounting reports to management and project personnel, particularly the monthly job schedule. Respond to information requests and questions from management and project personnel Coordinate trucking usage information used to prepare MNDOT Compliance Trucking Reports; prepare Trucking Reports and file with MNDOT. Perform administrative functions related to closing out construction contracts; ensure Company compliance with all documentation requirements and DBE reporting; work with project personnel to close projects and collect outstanding retainage. Process miscellaneous billings. Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.​ 

Required Qualifications and Skills​

Associate or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Business, or Finance.  5+ years accounting and/or construction project cost experience – margins, revenue recognition, costs in excess, billings in excess, retainages, subcontract management.  Strong analysis, organization, and communication skills.  Computer proficiency (MS Excel and Outlook).  Detail oriented, professional, and reliable.  Flexible, inventive, positive attitude - self-starter with a desire to see the team succeed.  Ability to effectively interact with all levels of a construction organization. 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Experience in an ERP environment – Vista Viewpoint. 

Work Environment

Traditional indoor office environment. Some office workers may travel to construction sites periodically. 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described below are representative of but not limited to the physical exertion generally required to perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time while using a keyboard. They are frequently required to stand and walk. They are occasionally required to lift, carry, push, pull, and reach overhead materials up to 20 pounds, along with frequent gross manipulation using their hands. The visual requirements include demonstrating or having vision corrected to 20/20. In general, this position includes sedentary work that primarily involves sitting and/or standing as well as repeating motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
