About this opportunity:

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Projects Cost Controller for the Superior, WI location. This individual will maintain the project cost information database to track Project Cost Performance against budget, committed, and incurred costs. Forecasting baselines and report results to Management and implementing the standard project execution process that is aligned with the Project Delivery Model (PDM) process as well as the Cenovus Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS).

What you’ll do:

Coordinate project adjustments and meetings with Project Managers to ensure budgets are balanced, variance is documented, and forecasts are updated

Facilitate internal review meetings to gather, analyze, and report on project costs, progress, accruals, and forecasts

Prepare and present monthly project performance updates, including forecast adjustments, variance analysis, and AFE status

Ensure project cost control strategies are implemented and suppliers are informed of responsibilities

Prepare AFE funding requests, track their status, and perform monthly reviews with Fixed Asset Accounting & AFE Administration

Define and apply cost control metrics for projects and assist Project Engineers in maintaining cost forecasts across all phases

Support finance with month-end reporting, forecasting, LRP, and cost control processes

Contribute to the annual budget and long-range planning processes and assist with Opportunity Management and overall program portfolio management

Liaise with stakeholders (Project Planner, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and external contractors) to ensure full project scope is understood and communicated

Support departmental initiatives focused on continuous improvement, standardization, efficiency, and integration across functions

Who you are:

High School diploma of GED equivalent required

2+ years related experience in cost control or in controlling operating costs in an operating refinery or chemical plant

Superior working knowledge of SAP and advanced skills in MS Office Products (Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI)

Post-secondary education with a focus in technical writing, accounting, finance, or project management preferred
