Project Costing Analyst

As a Project Costing Analyst on the project requirements and analysis team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Cost Analysis: Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) for projects including bill of materials, including hardware, software, energy, and staffing. + ROI (Return on Investment) Modeling: Develop financial models to assess ROI for data center projects and forecast scenarios for expansion, retrofits, and upgrades. + Cost Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities and collaborate with procurement + Stakeholder Collaboration: Present cost analysis and ROI findings to leadership. + Strategic thinking into headcount and resource planning to maximize engineering investments through industry intelligence and benchmarking. + Embody our culture and values . **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field + OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related fieldo OR equivalent experience. + Knowledge of general accounting principles and current organizational policies and procedures. This includes knowledge of general accounting and financial reporting, cost accounting, auditing, budget and forecasting, and/or accounts receivable. + Knowledge of and the ability to develop and utilize budgeting guidelines, practices, and techniques, including forecasting. **Other Requirements:** + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or Finance work experience + OR Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experienceo OR equivalent experience. + +1 yr experience in Data Center financial planning/analysis with a focus on TCObenchmarking. + Data Science or related field with 2+ years experience in financial analysis. Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
