This position is in the District 6 Rochester office and has the flexibility to telework. The incumbent will be required to complete a telework agreement. The purpose of this position is to provide engineering technical expertise, leadership, and support within the Project Development Section, to perform all advanced functions required to prepare detailed highway construction/transportation plans to ensure compliance with MnDOT standards and policies, including the preparation of preliminary design documents, scoping worksheet responses, final design plans and special provisions, contract time and technical oversight approvals of consultant designs. **** The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.** **Minimum Qualifications** To qualify for Engineer Senior, applicants must meet all the following: + Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.) + A valid Class D driver’s license is required. To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all the following: + A bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited college/university or equivalent as rated by EAC/NCEES. + A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. + Two (2) years post-graduation civil engineering work. **OR** + A Master’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited college/university or equivalent as rated by EAC/NCEES + A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. + One (1) year of post-graduate civil engineering work. **OR** + Received a passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam. **AND FOR BOTH LEVELS, THE RESUME MUST ALSO DEMONSTRATE:** + Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles, practices and techniques sufficient to develop preliminary and final design documents, layouts and plans based on department, state and federal specifications, design standards and procedures. + Knowledge of CADD standards and drafting methods sufficient to direct others in the preparation of detailed construction plans and specifications. **Preferred Qualifications** + Supervisory experience. + Knowledge of geometric design to evaluate proposed designs, verify compliance with standards, recommends revisions and approve final layouts. + Knowledge of Federal and State Environmental requirements and permitting to prepare PS&E packages and document project compliance. + Knowledge of Program and Project Development process and functional group deliverables. + Ability to monitor measure and report on progress using P6. **Additional Requirements** REFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS: **Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check** It is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment.
