Project Engineer, Structures (Bridge) for Gannett Fleming, Inc. to work at our Chicago, IL loc. May telecommute up to 2 days/week.

Independently performs engineering calcs, technical studies + prep plans + specs for a wide variety of assignments that may include: technical studies, structural design + analysis for highway/ railway bridges + related structures, load ratings, + quantities. May function as a Team Leader for bridge design +/or inspection assignments. Provide direction for management of specific design tasks, incl Level-1 reviews. Prep reports + letters. Dev of proj design concepts + criteria + reviews project documents for conformity + QA. Functions as Design Team Leader on bridge design activities for routine structures. Functions as Inspection Team Leader on bridge inspection activities for routine structures or as Assistant Team Leader for complex structures. Works w/ client + other disciplines to prep designs per SOW. Analyze moderate to complex design problems requiring dev of new or improved techniques or procedures. Participate in constructability evals. Provides direction to + supervision for Engineer I, II, & III. Communicates w/ clients on task-oriented issues + on project issues under direction of Proj Mgr. Attend public + agency meetings + participate under direct supervision of Proj Mgr. Works across disciplines to develop overall design + plans for a project. Lead design of specific tasks related to bridge/ structure design. Participate in dev of proposals as part of pursuit team. Dev scope, estimated schedule, + costs for proposed project services.

May undergo background checks incl drug screen and MV check.

Little national travel to project sites may be involved.

Must have BACH in Civil or other rel engineering field, and 8 years’ rel structural engineering exp or MASTER’S in Civil or other rel engineering field, and 5 years’ rel structural engineering exp.

Also reqs the following skills (5 yrs exp) in: plan development using CADD; MS Office.

Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Also reqs Professional Engineer (PE) License (USA) or P.Eng. License (Canada).
