What you’ll get to do:
Be mentored by a staff of Professional Engineers to gain the knowledge and skills required to become a Professional Engineer. Be an essential part of the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. Facilitate proper communication with the project owner and inspection team to ensure that all project stakeholders are always aware of the project status. Provide oversight of construction activities to ensure work is installed per the contract documents. Collaborate with home office Engineering Department to plan and design temporary work structures. Learn from knowledgeable Superintendents who will provide training and guidance to ensure success every step of the way. Prepare written construction work plans, including necessary drawings, for the jobsite crews. Create and maintain the project schedule in the method required by the owner, typically in CPM format. Ensure that the quantity of work performed by the project is accurately tracked and review with the owner to verify compensation is accurate with work complete. Ensure that the procurement of materials from suppliers is in time for the project to proceed on schedule. This will involve close coordination with the Project Manager. Maintain control over materials being delivered to the project site and ensure that all materials are examined to verify the quality and quantity. Collaborate with the onsite Project Management Team to plan the sequence of activities for the project site to make sure that the overall project schedule is followed. Interpret project plans and specifications. Provides work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts, i.e., forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports, etc. Create and maintain as-built files, which may require the use of surveying techniques. Coordinate surveying activities with the project surveyor to meet the construction requirements. Ensure that project team members and work crews work in a safe manner and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies. Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
About You
You have a B.S. degree in Civil Engineer or related discipline. You desire to be mentored by experienced Professional Engineers so that you can one day become a Professional Engineer. You enjoy working with your hands and building things. You want to help people work as safely and efficiently as possible while producing high-quality work. You are a problem solver. You do not just want to be on the Team when a problem arises, you want to be involved in the process of solving the problem.

Previous experience working in the heavy civil industry. Experience using construction software, such as Primavera P6 and MicroStation.

Are your engineers paid on a salary or hourly rate? Engineers are paid a salary. We do offer compensation for Saturday work. Will I travel for work? We perform work throughout the Southeast, and some projects may involve travel. Do you provide a company truck? Yes, pending approval of driving record. Do you offer assistance for working away from home? When short term overnight travel is necessary we pay per diem and hotels expense. For long term travel we offer housing arrangements and provide per diem pay. What time do you typically start work? In time to see the sunrise. The typical schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 6 pm. Will I have to work weekends? It is sometimes necessary and we try to stagger/rotate to keep it fair. Are there seasonal layoffs or do you work year-round? We operate year-round and do not have any annual lay-offs. What happens when it rains? Sometimes we'll work in the rain, but only if work can be done SAFELY and if the materials we're working with that day are OK in the rain. Sometimes you'll get to receive additional training on rainy days. What happens at lunchtime? We typically break for 30 minutes, bring our lunch, and eat together on-site.
