Project Engineer
Position Overview We are seeking a Project Engineer within the Body Exteriors team, who will lead in the development of Vehicle Exterior concepts, Requirements Definition, Design Validation Planning, Design & Release, BOM management, Engineering Change Management and Issue Resolution. Design solutions must serve the functional needs of the application but reflect an awareness of cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability. Frequent interaction with Vehicle Platform, Program Management, Validation, Procurement, Supplier Quality, Suppliers, Manufacturing, and Field Service can be expected. The ideal candidate is expected to work independently for extended periods, bring expertise to the team, offer a broad perspective, mentor and guide less senior employees, and develop best practices for the team Based in metro Chicago, International International Corporation is a leading global manufacturer of trucks and buses. Responsibilities Responsibilities include concept, design & release of exterior parts for new products and also support current product issues CAD model and print generation in NX/Team Center environment Support supplier requested supplier changes and resolve quality and design issues under supervision of experienced engineers Lead cross functional team meetings with suppliers, manufacturing plants, etc. for assigned projects Responsible for creating DFMEA, DVP and validation plans for designs Create release and overall timing plan to support program deliverables at various stages of product development process Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering. May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members Serves as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development; from initial styling concepts through design, validation, and launch Experience designing plastic parts for injection molding, reaction injection molding and/or compression molding is a plus Design and layout experience using Unigraphics UG-NX2 or any CAD related modeling software Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects Familiarity with design quality tools including: o Failure Modes Effects Analysis & DVP o Design for Manufacturing o Design for Assembly o Basic Dimensional Management (GD&T, etc.) o Statistical Tolerance Stack-up o Problem solving skills such as 8D, 3 legged 5 Why’s and statistical problem solving is a plus Company Overview At International Motors, LLC* (“International”), we’ve never backed away from forging our own path.
