Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the Cooperative's Long Range Engineering Plan and Two-Year Work Plan, collaborating with various managers and consultants, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our electrical systems.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with the Cooperative's Long Range Engineering Plan and Two-Year Work Plan by communicating with consultants and managers.Work closely with engineering and operations managers on projects to meet the cooperative's needs.Maintain records on primary underground cable faults and assist in decisions regarding cable replacement.Implement sectionalizing, overcurrent protection, device coordination, voltage improvement, power factor correction, load balancing, and system reliability.Review staking sheets from the field before construction.Review the design of power systems for subdivisions and large commercial customers to ensure compliance with good engineering practices and R.U.S. specifications.Obtain estimates from consultants, contractors, and vendors for services or assistance and seek approval from managers.Assist with developing specifications, evaluating quotes, and making recommendations regarding the purchase of various electrical equipment and materials.Plan and implement alternate feed arrangements and switching operations for voltage conversion, planned maintenance, and power restoration.Work with the inspections department to ensure sound construction practices and proper reporting of materials.Collaborate on major system projects to improve electrical system reliability.Gather information for the study of the electrical system to make improvements in reliability, efficiency, and safety.May require some supervisory responsibilities.Follow personnel and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.Exercise discretion and emotional control during periods of extreme stress while collaborating with diverse individuals.Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.Perform any other duties as assigned by managers.Essential SkillsSubstation maintenanceTransmissionSubstation designStamp drawingSCADAEngineeringProject managementElectrical engineeringDesignProject engineeringExcellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisionsProficiency with Microsoft 365 Apps (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams)Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited curriculum
