Chemical/Project Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support CAPEX projects at a large chemical plant. Our client specializes in manufacturing dispersion, blending, powder coating, and specialty suspension vinyl resins. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the conceptual design, construction, and startup of various projects aimed at achieving environmental goals and improving safety systems.
Responsibilities
+ Design, construct, and start up various projects at the facility.
+ Oversee the collection, concentration, drying, and packaging of waste streams.
+ Design an SIS shortstop system for Line 4 and Line 5, determining capital requirements for 2025 installation.
+ Design a sulfite flow meter system.
+ Ensure compliance with all plant safety, health, and environmental requirements.
+ Work with plant personnel to define project requirements, develop designs, and follow project management procedures.
+ Select and manage contractors to complete assigned projects.
+ Provide start-up reviews (PSSR’s), standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and P&ID development for projects.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in chemical engineering and process safety management.
+ Expertise in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and environmental compliance.
+ Ability to independently drive projects and design SIS systems from scratch.
+ Strong understanding of industry design standards including ANSI and API.
+ Minimum of 5 years of project experience in a refinery or chemical plant.
+ Ability to manage contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
+ Familiarity with SAP for purchase orders (training can be provided).
+ Experience in developing project requirements and designs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00
