What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Responsible for technical leadership of a project as well as for supporting the Project Manager in managing project performance of the engineering team with respect to cost, schedule and Client satisfaction. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.  

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Obtain a problem from conception; applying all areas of engineering expertise to obtain a workable solution.

Interface with maintenance and production to ascertain and identify operating and maintenance problems.

Conduct the engineering analysis and follow through with major project recommendations.

Proactively identify engineering problems or opportunities, and apply technical expertise to develop and present feasible solutions.

Coordinate between contractor and company to accomplish engineering projects in the smoothest and most efficient manner without causing production delays or upsets.

Provide support to maintenance, production, and environmental engineering.

Ensure thorough engineering standards for project execution, design, equipment standards, safety, and cost control.

Develop a detailed budget for the Plant’s annual capital expenditures to be presented to Corporate Engineering and finance: will be a long range capital plan that covers plant growth and viability of the Plant’s infrastructure and the estimated capital spending needed.

Accountable for delivering projects on time and on budget.

Track the current costs of all projects and notify leadership of changes in project costs.

Forecast potential changes in budgets, and provide information to leadership about changes in input costs, material costs, or project length/complexity.

Lead the engineering team on project priorities, schedules, annual reviews, and department performance.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 7+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.  

Advanced ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings

Advanced proficiency using root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems

Advanced ability to translate technical data into a format/language suitable for personnel

Advanced skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, AutoCAD, solid modeling

Advanced knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools, such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe.

Advanced knowledge of engineering fundamentals

Advanced proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatics

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
