Project Engineer

As NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States. We have an exciting opportunity for a **Project Engineer** to join the team. The **Project Engineer** will: + Work on a highly agile, tight knit team whose primary responsibility as a team is to stand up facilities, processes and procedures and transition into SI&T oversight and application for Engineering Development Units testing and flight hardware integration. + Develop and build VIPER Rover engineering design unit (EDU) mock-ups. + Determine and refine the integration flow of EDU mock-up assembly in service of saving schedule during upcoming flight hardware assembly. + Support Test and Verification (T&V) activities for VIPER Rover flight hardware. - Frequently perform hands-on hardware testing. + Work in a team environment, and report to project lead or project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes. + Support hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware or test support hardware. + Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed. + Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions. + Perform other duties as required. **Requisition Qualifications:** This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. + Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area. + Experience with hands-on hardware assembly. + Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems. + Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision. + Self-motivated, team player and adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required. + Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis. + Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team. + Familiarity with Microsoft Office products. **Requisition Preferences:** + Mechanical engineering degree. + Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures. + Experience with hardware processing for spaceflight. + Experience with avionics or mechanical systems integration and test for spaceflight or aircraft hardware. + Experience with Fastening and Torquing. + Experience with environmental qualification testing requirements and procedures (example: vibration, shock, EMI, etc.) + Ex Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or another NASA center. + Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process. + Experience with Creo. **Why Join Our Team?** In addition to exciting career opportunities, we also have: + Excellent personal and professional career growth + 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), when applicable + Onsite cafeteria (breakfast & lunch) + Much, much more! May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). **Equipment and Machines** Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). **Attendance** Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements. **Other Essential Functions** Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
