Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description

The Project Engineer oversees new product designs or revisions to existing products. This role integrates technical activities on assigned projects with Purchasing, Production, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, and other related departments and vendors. The engineer ensures that products are designed and produced to meet the product requirements in terms of cost, quality, and timing.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze product needs from drawings, specifications, and detailed information supplied.Develop a project plan by reviewing project requirements, organizing, coordinating, and executing the plan.Develop project/product cost and timing to meet product requirements.Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and recommending actions.Direct the work of project personnel assigned to the engineer.Solve problems using root cause analysis and suggest recommended actions.Coordinate testing, either internally or through external test labs, as required by DOT, as part of R&D, or requested by the customer.Provide leadership to Design Engineers I & II as needed per project team.Essential SkillsBasic electrical knowledge - Low voltage & DC power supplyAbility to act independently as well as work cohesively in a team setting and with all company associates.Skilled in the application of Design Engineering principles to specific products/processes.Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.Self-motivated and dependable.Inquisitive attitude, good mechanical aptitude, and a strong self-starter.Additional Skills & QualificationsB.S.M.E., or equivalentPreferred 2-4 years of product development experience.Working knowledge of FMVSS 108Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5Design knowledge and experience working with injection molded plastics, metal stampings, and castings.Experience with lighting design and optics.Proficient in using standard Microsoft products such as Word and Excel.MS ProjectSolidWorksLucidShape (knowledge is a plus but can be learned on the job).Work Environment

The work environment includes a large building with an office setting and manufacturing floor. The engineering team has its own corridor near the entrance where this individual will have an office. The manufacturing floor is very clean and quiet, with multiple processes in different sections. There is a lab adjacent to the manufacturing floor. The company culture is fast-paced but laid back and very family-oriented. The engineering team consists of 9 engineers, including 6 Mechanical Engineers, 3 Electrical Engineers, and an Electrical Drafter. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and may direct the work of other engineering associates.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00
